What customers say

Elysian Fields shines with spotless, unique showers, roomy sites, and welcoming staff. Great for Cornwall's sights. Tavern's a hit. Mostly excellent, though some found sites muddy, Wi-Fi spotty, and the shop pricey. Many want to return.

Powered grass campsite (XL)

Liked Our tent is 7X2.6m and we use a gazebo too so the XL pitch was more than enough.
We liked that the site wasn't huge and everything was easily within walking distance.
The bar on site is very cute and open when we visited on the first night. Hot water for washing up felt like an absolute luxury after the last site we were at.
The site had a relaxed atmosphere and we were greeted warmly by the staff.
Reception wasn't open, but she came as soon as we rang the number on the board.
We loved having a fire most nights.
Our 8 yo twins spent a lot of time at the playground making friends.
The shower block had individual bathrooms which were fine provided the previous person hadn't left muddy footprints everywhere - it's perfectly easy to squeegee the floor with the tool provided and leave it clean for the next person.
The ladies toilets were clean and always had loo roll, but ran out of soap which wasn't refilled for the last 2 days of our trip.
Lidl was a short car ride away for groceries.
The WiFi was fine for my kids to use on their iPads.

Disliked Overall it's a great site. The only thing that could be improved is a cover over the washing up area. If it starts to rain mid-washing, you're going to get wet.
The shop and/or reception weren't always physically open, but there was someone on the end of the phone who could usually help.
People have mentioned the pitches aren't level. There was the tiniest of slopes across the site, we didn't notice it on pitch 12.

Powered grass campsite (XL)

Liked Not too busy, quirky and clean individual shower cubicles with sink, loo and hairdryer. Separate toilet block, again nice and clean with soap, paper towels provided and hair dryer.
Well kept site with loads of room, super friendly staff and home cooked food at Tony's Tavern, limited menu but pizzas to die for!

Disliked No soap in the shower rooms. Would be a great addition as I saw several campers heading in just to use the loo.
Some extra hooks in the shower rooms would also be super useful.

Liked Everything!! A fantastic little site with a very friendly team of staff, nothing was too much trouble and even put the opening game of the women's rugby world cup on for us in the bar!

The toilets were very well kitted out and every bathroom was different themes and loved the fact that we didn't have to push buttons to keep the water going and could have it at our individual temp!

Kids loved the small park and kept our youngest (9) entertained when needed

Primitive grass tent campsite (large)

Liked The site was in a good location, making it easily accessible to lots of places. On arrival, reception was ok, we were checked in and just left to it. Very limited shop. The shower block was nice as was the toilets. There’s also a path that runs along the back on the campsite which either goes to a park or the local village. The campsite is big, and roomy, I think with a little more thought and tidying it could really nice.

Disliked There is a children’s park but it needs replacing, it’s falling apart and wobbles all over the place. The two wash sinks didn’t have a lean to, so when it was raining, we had to get wet washing up but also you couldn’t fill the sinks, the plugs wouldn’t hold the water 🤷‍♀️

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: I'm very sorry to hear that you would not consider staying with us again. We had a new member of staff running the office on the date of your arrival, she has since been further trained on how to greet and welcome guests. Our laundry facility has two sinks for washing up, fully sheltered with working plugs, that unfortunately were not shown to you on your arrival. Our children's park has since been repaired, and is scheduled for a full replacement at the end of our summer season. I am sorry your experience was below our usual standard, and hope you may reconsider staying with us in the future.

Liked Coming from someone that only goes camping to make the rest of the family happy……This is by far the nicest camp site we have stayed on. All staff are very friendly.

The bathrooms are exceptional, very quirky, each with its own style and cleaned regularly throughout the day!!

The playground is an added bonus, my daughter loved making new friends there.

Lovely little bar (Tony’s Tavern) which had a nice garden area to enjoy a cold beer in the sunshine! The staff even went out of their way to russle us up a late night pizza after they had closed so we didn’t go without eating! Nothing was too much trouble.

Elysian Fields is within reach of many beaches and towns to visit.

The owner is friendly and has two German Shepard’s that barely leave his side and are absolutely no bother at all.

I would definitely recommend this site to friends.

Disliked Certain individuals let down our stay when they let there off lead ridgeback come and attack my rottie who was always on a lead, and tried to say his dog wanted to “play and sniff my dogs ass” and that we shouldn’t be walking our dog around the field like he owned it! (Growling and lunging onto my dogs face is not play!) I have a rottie, not a chihuahua, I think we know the difference between rough play and aggression!! That same ridgeback also attacked the most friendly frenchie two days prior who was also on a lead going for a walk.

Safe to say I had my fair share of words spoken!

Irresponsible owners are my pet hate!!

All dogs with the EXCEPTION of the owners Dogs (we are visiting their home) should be on leads at all times.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review of our site, I'm sorry to hear that you had to cut your stay short. I will pass your request for an "on-lead" policy on to the owners. The owner responsible for the incident was spoken to, and asked to keep their dog leashed whilst on the site. I hope this does not put you off returning, as we would love to have you stay again!

Liked Everything was great.
toilets regularly cleaned.
Food at Tony’s Taven was fantastic definitely recommend the breakfast.
Staff across the site was all helpful.
Site location for me was perfect you can get to most places with in 30 to 40 mins max.
The owner was fantastic offered and arranged a lift to fetch my car from a local garage instead of using a taxi.
There was one girl in reception that was so helpful during our stay too.
Will definitely be back again

Disliked Only thing I could say was the shop been open and closed throughout the day but only for short periods of the day not really a issue tbf.

From the manager: Hi Will,

Thank you for your lovely review of our site. I'm glad you had a lovely stay, despite your very eventful trip down and car troubles! In future, you're always welcome to call the number on the shop door or A-board outside and a member of staff will be more than happy to open up the shop for you. We'd love to see you again, hopefully for a more restful holiday!

Kind regards,
Ellie

Local attractions

Having gazed out over Tregonning Hill, it's a fine idea to amble over there for a closer look. It’ll take you around 45 minutes of leisurely walking to get to the top for some excellent views over both north and south coasts and plenty of historical info on the old mining pits and war memorial. Likewise, the beaches you’ve glimpsed from afar look pretty fab from up close too. The sands of Porthleven, three miles away, are the nearest, and there are plenty of others a short drive away, including Praa Sands and Marazion (from where you can take a boat or cross the causeway to St Michael’s Mount). Arty types may like to spend a day in St Ives, half an hour’s drive away, taking in the exhibits of Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden. Perhaps less highbrow but equally entertaining is the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek.
