  • Woodland walk down to Readymoney beach; bus stop outside the site
Got your heart set on Fowey as a place to stay? It’s an excellent choice – this cute little town is a real highlight of Cornwall, with a real sense of heritage as well as some gorgeous sea views. Keeping things very simple for a stay here is Lambs Barn Camping Ground, a wild camping site in a wooded valley on the edge of town, about a kilometre from the village centre. From here you'll also be able to walk along a footpath through the woods down to Readymoney beach, a sheltered sandy cove that’s fabulous for a dip in the sea. Longer walks might take you out onto the South West Coast Path, which runs along the entirety of Cornwall’s coastline, and there’s a bus stop just outside the site for longer jaunts around the county. This site is billed as having wild camping – and that’s almost true, as you’ll be settling down in nature-filled grass meadows for a real sense of countryside calm. There are, however, a few conveniences to make your stay a little more comfortable, including a water supply, gas-powered showers and portable toilets. Laundry facilities are close by if you need them. Down in Fowey you should find plenty to entertain yourselves, including watersports centres (with kayak and paddleboard hire) and riverside walks, plus shops, pubs and places to eat. There’s also a ferry service across the bay to Mevagissey (a route that’s well known for dolphin-spotting opportunities).

Great location near Fowey & beach. Owners are friendly, site is spacious & peaceful. Outdoor shower is a plus. Basic but good value. Toilet reviews are mixed (cleanliness/basic). Some sloped areas.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked The new toilets. Good location, not too far. Bus stop just by gate. Coop close by. Good value. You can catch a bus to polkerrin beach which is lovely. Small sandy harbour beach with two pubs. Bus runs until late in evening.

Disliked The hilly site, you can only really pitch around the edge. If you camp at bottom of the hill it’s steamy long walk to toilet in the middle of the night.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Proximity is close enough to walk to Readymoney beach easily. It is a longer stretch for some people if they wish to go into Fowey town centre. There is a lovely longer walk to Polkerris too and St.Agnes

Bus stop right outside the town centre so can travel to Mevagissey, St.Austell, Par etc (there is a ferry to Mevagissey to Fowey if weather permits. This is quicker!)

Friendly owner

Disliked Toilet block being in a little way from the camping field. It is not completed properly yet and could possibly incorporate showers too. It may have been better to have had this built where the existing shower is in the same field as the campers but I assume there is a reason why it is not there

There are only a few areas that are completely flat for campervans but if you have levelling blocks it should not be a problem

No bins for rubbish and a chemical waste disposal facility would be beneficial

A little overpriced for the current facilities compared to other sites similarly priced but maybe paying for the proximity to Fowey?
