What customers say

This woodland site offers a relaxed, "wild camping" vibe with spacious, secluded spots and fire pits. Guests loved the friendly, helpful owners and excellent, well-kept facilities like hot showers and a shop. While mostly peaceful, some noted neighboring noise and mosquitoes. A great base for local exploration.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite (wild)

Liked Wooded location is great, rope swings for kids and small shop to top up on extras.
Clean facilities and friendly staff.
Campfires allowed is great, and small site size is nice for community feeling. First time at camping for my 7 year old and was a hit!

Disliked Larger group allowed on site staying up until 2-3am drinking, laughing and talking, not very considerate for others (especially those with kids) late night noise / disruption levels not enforced or managed by staff.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite (woodland, wild)

Liked The owners were lovely and so friendly and helpful, full of recommendations if you’re not sure where to go especially as we had a puppy. The pitches are spread out - so much space in between them and they have fire pits and picnic benches dotted around as well as swings.
The outdoor showers were great and better than expected. Toilets were clean and always stocked with toilet roll.
Make sure you grab a drink in the bar - local ciders are a must. Hot tap for washing up and a bowl and sponges etc were there.
Handy having a microwave, toaster, fridge and freezer.
We loved it so much that we stayed an extra night!
Local beach is a 15 min drive and it’s sandy with a lovely cafe and pub. As well as grove ferry where you can hire canoes etc
We will be back

Liked Great site with brilliant staff. It’s lovely to camp in the woods and just enjoy the atmosphere. The staff are incredibly helpful and sitting by the campfire at night is the best. We enjoyed it so much we’ve already been back for another visit!

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite (wild)

Liked Friendly, welcoming environment. Lots of facilities including toilets, a shower, a wetroom, a bar, sink for dishes and a shop. Facilities were well maintained. Wheelbarrows were supplied to take our things from the car, which was very useful and overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Local attractions

As well as being pretty, the area around the site is dotted with towns and cities worth perusing – from historic Canterbury to coastal Margate. Try the former to punt down the Stour, roam the Roman walls and take Chaucer-themed tours towards the cathedral; the latter, meanwhile, is home to a sandy beach, the seafront Turner Contemporary gallery and a vintage fairground (25 minutes’ drive away). Even closer than Margate is Herne Bay (15 minutes): head here for salty walks beside the Reculver Towers and Roman Fort on Herne Bay, an old Anglo-Saxon monastery that nods to the region’s history as a dock for ships in the Roman era. Or follow the coast around to Botany Bay (half an hour from Puddledock Woods Camping) to hunt for fossils below the chalk-white cliffs. For very famed white cliffs, Dover (and its ferry ports for France) is a 40-minute drive, while Whitstable and its oysters are 25 minutes away in the other direction. If the kids are needing some solid entertainment, the creatures at Howletts Wild Animal Park and Wingham Wildlife Park are 20 and 15 minutes’ drive away respectively.
