  • Dog-friendly site in the grounds of an Edwardian country manor house
  • In the New Forest National Park, 15 minutes’ drive from beaches
  • Farm shops, pubs, cafés and train station within walking distance
You’ll be all set for a royally relaxing stay at Camping at the Manor in the New Forest National Park. Here, you’ll be dwelling in the grounds of an Edwardian country manor house where there are often wild deer to be seen roaming the grounds and occasionally the mad owner on his lawnmower ensuring that the pitches stay nicely trimmed. You’ll have plenty of space to make into your little hidey-hole, as the pitches are spread between three large fields, surrounded by mature trees and planting for extra privacy. They’re level-grounded too, so it shouldn’t be too tricky to set up your tent and you’ll have access to a composting toilet, a shower and a washing-up area. There’s a real treat in store when it comes to the world of food around this area, as New Milton (five minutes’ drive) lives up to its description as a market town. As well as regular shops, there are farm shops for local goodies and pubs, restaurants and cafés. Closer by, Ashley (35 minutes’ walk) has a small shop too. Of course, there are all the popular pubs and eateries around Sway, Milford on Sea, Hordle and New Forest too – many within a short drive of the site. Just let the site know if they can arrange any bookings on your behalf. Those of you planning on leaving the car behind won’t need to miss out, as local buses will take you to Bournemouth or Lymington and the train station in New Milton is just 40 minutes’ walk away.

What customers say

Highly recommended, friendly, and relaxed campsite with a great atmosphere. Guests love the spacious, flat pitches, clean facilities (hot showers!), and helpful hosts. The on-site shop is a hit. Great for exploring the New Forest and beaches, with an appreciated eco-friendly ethos. Occasional facility queues and compostable toilets are noted but well-maintained.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Generously spaced level pitches. Hot showers.

Disliked No hot water for washing up, only one tap. Compost toilets were OK in the morning after cleaning but by the evening they were disgusting. Primitive shower facilities with nowhere to put anything other than one hook. Glad I had my flip flops as the space to step out of shower was a rough board surface which was not clean. Only one wash basin! Entry to campsite poorly visible, sign only visible at last minute, so dangerous if a car close behind. Difficult to turn out of site as traffic going faster than good for such a small lane with poor visibility. Entrance needs to be bigger. Not good value for money due to poor facilities. Booked because it was in a manor grounds, sounded calm and peaceful. This was missold as there was no sign of any manor at all and site is right beside a busy road.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Fantastic hosts which made sure we had everything we needed. Even though hte site was full, the compostable toilets and all facilities were kept clean and even though it was hot and dry, the team on site provided everyone with all the needs to have a bbq which helped with the great experience and weekend we had with the family. Site served beers, bacon rolls and pizzas which looked popular. Overall without doubt the best run campsite I have been to and we will definitely be back again soon.

Disliked Nothing, do exactly what you are doing and I know the team will keep fine tuning to make everything ever better. Well done!

Beach day, anyone? There are plenty of options for your daily dose of sand and sea. Milford on Sea beach (10 minutes’ drive) has very easy access in the high season. You might want to practise your bodyboarding at Highcliffe beach (15 minutes), paddle at Mudeford beach (15 minutes) or indulge in watersports at Avon beach (15 minutes). Other places for a dip (or a snooze and some sandcastle building if you’re feeling like a lazier day) are Sandbanks beach (45 minutes) and Boscombe beach (half an hour). Bournemouth (35 minutes) has plenty of seaside entertainment too, as well as an aquarium with a penguin enclosure. As for the quirky stuff, the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum (five minutes) has a collection of restored motorcycles, including factory racers and exotic prototypes. Arty types might want to visit the Forest Arts Centre (five minutes) too. It’s close to Highcliffe Castle (15 minutes), a grand Grade I-listed mansion that will add in some history.
