What customers say

Avon Tyrrell offers a beautiful New Forest setting with abundant outdoor activities, highly praised by families. Guests highlight friendly staff, spacious sites, and excellent facilities like clean restrooms and hot showers. While activities are a draw, some found them pricey or hard to book. Minor drawbacks: occasional plane noise and campsite noise. Some suggest more frequent facility cleaning. Overall, a highly recommended, family-friendly outdoor adventure site.

Primitive forest floor tent campsite (forest, pet friendly)

Liked Location, facilities, views. The whole place is lovely, set in nature.

Disliked We asked for Forest floor but was given the meadow. Not a massive deal but it was something we specifically did want.

Liked We had an amazing time, we only came for 1 night but the tent pitch we had was in the perfect place and we were super happy. Lots of activities on offer and the lake is beautiful on a sunny morning! Facilities were really good

Primitive forest floor tent campsite (forest, pet friendly)

Liked Relaxed atmosphere, beautiful setting. Toilets and showers are clean, hot water and free. On site activities are reasonably priced and great fun. Communal picnic benches and fire pits are great.

Disliked Forest site has very stony ground so i recommend heavy duty pegs.

Primitive grass campsite (no pets, lake view)

Space
Possible activities and great things to do, on the site

Disliked The unisex bathrooms are busy and take some getting used to
The bike I hired had not been checked, had a flat tyre and gears that did not function! Not ideal!

Powered grass campsite (no pets, lake view)

Liked I loved the opening of the campsite pitch! The boat house was kept fairly tidy.

Disliked An extra toilet building just for campsite users would be handy as when people using the lake it gets very hectic and very dirty.

Primitive forest floor tent campsite (forest, pet friendly)

Liked loved the site, Walks, cycle route, gate onto the new forest. Shower and toilets where spotlessly clean. loved that the camping was not over crowded, huge spaces in the middle for kids to play. Great activities. Restaurant very good quality and very cheap. Basic shop but it did have the odd bits that you need or had forgotten. All staff second to non. The staff doing activities are so patient and supportive.

Disliked There are not enough photos on the website of activities. I was not sure what some of the activities where until I got there and watched what was going on, by that time having decided to do them they where fully booked up. please please put more photos or better descriptions on the website so its easy to choose and book in advance. Thanks

Local attractions

Several bike tracks start directly from the site, so pack a picnic and head off into the New Forest to find your own adventure – perhaps you might fancy a pedal to the Dorset and Hampshire beaches of Christchurch, Mideford, Southbourne or Highcliffe...? The sands of Bournemouth are about 10 miles away. Around the New Forest, the many places to see include the New Forest Wildlife Park in Southampton, an ancient natural woodland and wildlife haven (look out for otters and owls); the award-winning National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, and Liberty's Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre at Ringwood. Pipsqeaks have the home of Peppa Pig World at Paultons Family Theme Park 30 minutes away for actively exciting day out, as well as the hands-on activities and indoor and outdoor play areas of Longdown Dairy Farm in Southampton and the Dinosaur Museum in Dorchester. Naturally, they might like trekking with a New Forest pony too.
