  • Peaceful and secure gated touring park in Bradfield village, Essex
  • Colchester Castle 25 minutes’ drive; Wrabness Foreshore 10 minutes
  • Dog-friendly pitches with electric hook-ups, showers and beer garden
Whether you are arriving in the UK from Hook-of-Holland, or setting off on your European adventure from the ferry ports at Harwich (20 minutes’ drive), you won’t find a handier place to stop over than Strangers Holiday Park. With pretty views over the Stour Estuary, this gated holiday park has grass and gravel touring pitches in the village of Bradfield, Essex. Sheltered by mature trees, the site has all the facilities you need for comfy layovers – electric hook-ups to all the pitches, a shower block and shared barbecue areas. Dogs are more than welcome too, but please keep them on a lead around the park and clear up after them. Stay just one night if you’re heading deeper into the UK, or linger longer and acquaint yourselves with the all-round loveliness of Essex countryside, towns and villages. And if you like the sound of escaping the big smoke for the weekend, Strangers Holiday Park is roughly two hours’ drive from central London.

What customers say

This well-kept, secure site is perfect for ferry travelers. Guests rave about friendly staff, peace, and spacious, level sites. Facilities are clean but some say dated; they could use an update. The on-site pub/cafe is popular but hours vary. Great for a stopover or exploring.

Liked Booking and information was good and was met when through the entry gate to be directed to the booked pitch.

Disliked The male showers could do with a bit of TLC but worked. (And was pleased that there was no timed water flow that is often found ion other sites). Although not intrinsic to the camping pitches I thought that the adjoining Strangers Bar lacked a choice of beers (keg or cask) so that was disapointing. I thought the bottled beer I chose was overpriced.

Liked I spent 2 nights here , it was a nice small site ,with a lovely coffee shop by day and wine bar by night . The staff where very friendly, and toilets and showers where clean .on the Saturday morning there was no toilet roll in any of the toilets but I told the warden and this was instantly rectified and the rest of my stay there was always toilet roll there. The showers where nice and hot and very clean however there isn't a stall in the cubicle this would be a good idea to add as it would make changing easier after your shower but other then these view points I would definitely come again.
It is a gated site so very safe and secure .

Liked On arrival we entered via the secured entrance, we were shown our pitch which was clean and level! After hookup and set up the site is quiet and respectful, on site coffee shop is great, staff are very welcoming and friendly! Facilities are great including washing up facilities, chemical toilet disposal, showers and toilets, all nice and clean; if we were to be picky, these are due some upgrade and modernisation, however were well lit at night, but not to the detriment of those staying! Overall great stay and would most certainly return!

Powered grass campsite

Liked The place was very pretty, well kept, the man that came to greet us at the gate was really friendly and helpful. The place has a huge electric coded gate so we felt safe. Toilet and showers were fine and had a separate washing up area, and water was lovely and hot , not too far to walk. The ground was not to hard and was quite even, large area to pitch our 2 single tents. A pub with a nice outdoor area, backing on to the site to have a coffee and cake or a glass of something alcoholic.

Disliked This was my first time camping so not able to compare it to anything else. It was a lot better than I imagined it to be.I think the pub is missing and trick with only serving bakery type food and drinks.
