What customers say

This spot's praised for being clean, quiet, and well-kept, with lovely grounds and a friendly owner. Great for Lake District exploration, it's accessible from the M6. Basic but clean facilities, though some noted they're dated. A few found it pricey and wished for more dog walking space and dishwashing areas.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Quiet and well maintained. Quite a few pitches are occupied by seasonal pitch holders and so people on site low, but this is mid October! Loved the little robot mower cutting the grass each morning.

Disliked Shower in the toilet block is push button timed about 2 minutes, though there is not limit on the number of times you push the button and warm but I like my showers hot and as this is mid October it felt chilly in the shower!

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Beautiful grounds and a very friendly and helpful host, Margaret.

Disliked Nothing. No washing up facilities but then this is a campsite mainly for Caravans/Campervans so most are self sufficient.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Lovely quiet site, very clean and well maintained. Facilities were basic but decent. In an ideal location for accessing numerous walks around the lakes. Very close to the A66 so easy to find but well hidden by its surroundings. Would highly recommend.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Location and views across the Moray Firth.

Disliked The showers and toilet facilities are tired, with no heating. It doesn’t help that people were going into them with dirty boots and leaving their crap all over the floor. Appreciate this is not an issue caused by the site but the facilities need updating and enlarging in my view.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked The site and its facilities are excellent and all beautifully maintained by Margaret.
The local pub (The Clickham Inn) is also very good with an excellent and unusual tapas menu.
All in all a great place for our stopovers on the way to Scotland.

Local attractions

Tymparon Hall is 10 minutes both from Pooley Bridge and its Bronze Age standing stones, and Lake Ullswater for steamboat trips, sailing, diving and scaling England's third highest mountain Helvellyn to the lake's south. At its west, walk through Lake District woodland to reach Aria Force waterfall. The Rheged Visitor Centre is a couple of miles from Tymparon: head here for a six-storey high cinema screen, shops, cafés using Cumbrian produce, indoor and outdoor play areas, and family-friendly activities and events throughout the year. This is Eden valley land too, along with lots of opps for walks, bike rides and pony riding in the valley, Greystoke Forest, around the Lakeland Fells and back at Ullswater. A little further afield but still easily accessible from the site, Hadrian's Wall and Carlisle are both excellent options for days out.
