What customers say

This campsite earns praise for its stunning, peaceful natural setting. It offers a "back to basics" feel with no cell service. Guests love the clean facilities, hot showers, and friendly owners. Hiking trails and a local pub are nearby. While mostly positive, some mention the shower distance and ground conditions in wet weather.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Beautiful setting, close to pub, stream and open fields, Mountains in every view

Disliked Owner arriving on site at 7:30am on a Sunday to remove bins and glass- waking up most of the site.
allows groups as there were a few parties going on, seemed cramped in the tent area (just an observation)
bit confusing when we arrived where we should go- easily rectified by allocating pitch numbers upon booking?

Disliked Het afval zou wat eerder afgeboerd kunnen worden. Geen douches op het terrein zelf, maar dat was ook wel weer charmant.

Local attractions

Dust off those hiking boots, for Seatoller’s surrounds are stacked with walking trails to suit all comers, from those seeking a gentle stroll through woodland and across heather-strewn fells to those in search of more vertical challenges. The beginning of a couple of the national park’s top climbs are easy to get to too – Great Gable (an hour and a half) and mighty Scafell (a couple of hours). Roam a little further afield for hikes on Catbells (15 minutes’ drive), around the Castlerigg stone circle (25 minutes) or on the slopes of Helvellyn (half an hour away, and a fine choice for mountain bikers too). If you’d like to have a crack at climbing in a controlled environment, try the via ferrata route at Honister Slate Mine, five minutes away, and worth a stop for an underground mine tour even if you’re not up to clinging on to crags. All sound a little tiring? Less demanding days out include the Lake District Wildlife Park (half an hour) and the sculpture trail at Rydal Hall Gardens (40 minutes). It’s worth knocking around Keswick for a bit too, visiting the eccentric Puzzling Place exhibition and Derwent Pencil Museum or taking tipples at the town’s brewery. Alpaca trekking at Lingholm Estate and Whinlatter Forest are some other splendid days out.
