What customers say
This no-frills campsite offers a peaceful rural escape with lovely views and ample space. Reviewers rave about friendly staff, clean facilities, and great hot showers. Convenient for Windermere and Kendal. While some note portaloos and limited amenities, it's considered excellent value for a relaxed stay, with many wanting to return. Some pitches were tricky after rain.

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Basic but perfectly formed. Toilets immaculate (I’ve got very high standards for these things 🤣), showers great and sinks clean. Views stunning and really friendly staff- even brought up ice lollies for a very hot weekend! Don’t panic about field on slope reviews- there’s a couple of pitches that would be on a slope if you chose there but there’s plenty room to not have to be!!
Disliked Nothing!!

Overall, definitely would book again.
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked The campsite was spacious and had portaloos with disinfectant, an outdoor double sink with dish soap, and two showers.
Very friendly and welcoming owners.
Disliked Of the two showers, one was ice cold and the other super hot. Likely due to the amount of people using the showers at the time.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a lovely review! We're really glad you enjoyed your stay.
Apologies that one of our showers was cold, we hadn't spotted that one of our batteries (which triggers the gas ignition in the shower unit) had run out. This is now fixed and both showers are back up and running as normal.
Thanks again!

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Lovely campsite, facilities were good. The brothers that ran it were just so lovely, chatty and helpful. They brought round ice lollies on a very hot day, were wonderful and welcoming to the children and even came and helped jump start my parents car when it broke down the morning we were due to leave. Lovely spot to easily access Kendal and Windermere quickly. Lovely plumgarths farm shop and cafe nearby as well as Lovingly Artisan Bakery which is an absolute gem. The local pub, The Sun Inn was brilliant too. All in all a wonderful stay!

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked The site is peaceful and the owners were very welcoming, taking their time to come and chat to each tent. Basic but clean showers with plenty of hot water. Close distant to a couple of pubs and a short drive to larger towns if needed.
