  • Small Cheshire glamping site 10 minutes' drive from Whitchurch
  • Cholmondeley Castle Gardens five minutes' drive; 35 minutes to Chester
  • Swimming pool, tennis court, gym and outdoor bar for shared use
Now here’s a smart choice for a Cheshire glamping stay – Lower Hall Glamping, a rural spot about 10 minutes’ drive from Whitchurch, has that fabulous mix of convenient access, comfy accommodation and cracking countryside views. Getting here should be a straightforward endeavour, as the site is only a little over a mile from the A49 – and that location also means it should be simple to get out and about for day trips, perhaps heading up to Chester or nipping across the Welsh border to places like Wrexham or Llangollen. Closer to home, the Sandstone Trail passes close by for easy access to scenic walks. Back on site, you’ll follow a solar-lit path from the car park to your accommodation, which has been set up in a secluded spot to provide plenty of peace for all. It's a small-scale site so there won’t be many other guests around – in fact, you’re probably more likely to spot things like squirrels, foxes or owls, all of which are attracted here by the nature conservation projects on site. Each of the glamping units is pretty much self contained, with its own eco toilet and basic kitchen amenities (such as a kettle and toaster) as well as a double bed and a wood burner for heating (or cooking baked potatoes using the utensils provided). Outside, each unit has a veranda with a firepit, a barbecue and a picnic table, along with solar lights strung through the trees for extra atmosphere. Shared facilities here are rather smart too – including a swimming pool (open April to September), tennis court, gym, pool table and outdoor bar (where guests can bring their own drinks).

Liked We loved all the facilities at this location. We instantly felt at home which was lovely. The rain didn't stop us from doing tennis, swimming, pool, darts, and going in the hot tub! We felt very lucky to come here.

Treehouse (hot tub)

Liked We stayed to celebrate my partners birthday and to have a night break from the children. From the start Dave was very welcoming and showed us around, he made sure we had everything we needed. The peace and quiet was just lovely. The hot tub was so relaxing and we really enjoyed seeing the horses, hens and little dog that came around to see us. It was very homely and clean. We had a lovely time and would definitely come to stay again thank you.

Disliked Wish we could of stayed for a week😂

Treehouse (hot tub)

Liked Myself and my 4 year old daughter stayed here and we absolutely loved it, the host David was amazing he basically told us to go wherever we wanted, and we totally did, there's lots of things to see, secret gardens, pool table etc and then the tree house itself was brilliant, Dave came and lit our firepit for us, and that was it we was off being proper glampers lol. The treehouse was cosy and also had a log fire so we was nice and warm all night thru, we got visitors in the form of chickens in the morning, and little party the dog, which my daughter loved, not to mention the horses. Overall amazing time

Disliked I disliked that I didn't take BBQ food hahaha

Amazing well worth a visit 💯 worth the money and will return

Treehouse (hot tub)

Liked What a lovely little hidden gem this place is. Such a lovely couple and their animals. Arrived to a bottle of wine and biscuits. David rang the day before to get arrival time and showed us to the treehouse cabin, showed us where everything was and reassured us if we needed anything just to message him. We were the only ones on site, such a lovely little place to just relax away from the stresses of the world. We even purchased a new light for our conservatory from David’s little cave of wonders.
We went to the swan pub for lunch, not too far away and very nice. Milk and iced coffee in fridge ready for you. Tea, coffee, sugar all there.
Lovely sitting in the hot tub looking at the stars.

Local attractions

How best to explore the pretty Cheshire countryside from Lower Hall? A walk on the Sandstone Trail is a good place to start – or part of it, at least (the whole thing runs to 34 miles). A canalside stroll at Grindley Brook Wharf (10 minutes' drive) is another option, or perhaps a wander through the gorgeous Cholmondeley Castle Gardens (five minutes). A little bit of a longer drive takes you over the Welsh border for walks around Llangollen (45 minutes) or visits to Erddig (35 minutes), Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (40 minutes) and Chirk Castle (45 minutes). Meanwhile, if you’d like to up the pace of life a bit, you can take on the inflatable assault course at Alderford Lake (10 minutes). Gentler days out might involve gin tasting at Three Wrens Distillery (15 minutes), a step into the past at Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker (15 minutes) or a day trip to the historic city of Chester (35 minutes).
