  • Playground by the off-grid pitches; animals encounters available
Cheshire campsites don’t come much more family-friendly than Magical Malpas PYO Farm, a back-to-basics spot on a working dairy and pick-your-own farm. This simple pop-up site has a small number of pitches on neatly mown fields, and is five minutes’ drive from pubs and convenience stores in the historic market town of Malpas. Simple on-site facilities include a children’s playground, picnic tables and toilets with wash basins and cold running water, so if you’re looking for shower blocks or electric hook-ups, this is not the site for you. However, there are indoor role play sessions in one of the barns throughout the summer, which you and the family are welcome to join on specific evenings for an additional fee, and you’ll all no doubt love the opportunity to get up close to the friendly donkeys, miniature goats and cute-as-pie Valais Blacknose sheep who reside on the farm. If you can get your kids away from the animals, they will be chomping at the bit to get to BeWILDerwood Cheshire (10 minutes’ drive) and Chester Zoo (40 minutes).

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Working farm with beautiful, peaceful views. The owners were wonderful and extremely friendly. We stayed here with our 2 young children and they had the best time playing on the small children's play areas. They loved being so close to all the animals, especially watching the farmer moving the cows into a new field close by and stroking the 6 day old goat.
If you want a nice chilled few nights camping, then this place is perfect. Toilet onsite and cleaned every single morning by the owners.
Wonderful to see a farming family working extremely hard everyday.
Thank you for a wonderful couple of days.

Disliked: We didn't book longer.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Amazing little site.
Owners greeted us with a warm welcome and showed us round the site. We picked our pitch near the play ground.
Toilets cleaned throughout the day and never without toilet roll.
Washing up area had a bowl and washing up liquid which made it so much easier.
Animals on site including goats, donkeys, chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs. The kids absolutely loved the animals.
Loved the fact the playground was closed in evening to stop kids playing on it till daft o'clock at night.
Owners were brilliant. Couldn't do enough. Even gave us a menu of local takeaway that would deliver to site.
All in all I really hope to go back next year with our lot.

Disliked: No showers or drinking water. We were made aware of this at the time and took enough of our own. And for £20 a night we were OK with this.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Great location, close to local attractions like Bewilderwood or for rainy days and young kids try Funzone. Lovely large pitches. Clean and well presented WC's. Various animals on the farm like goats, donkeys and rabbits. Good wash up facilities and honestly the friendliest hosts ever.

Primitive cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked: The small size and easy going owners, the kids loved the animals and the play park.
Simple loos and even a sink to wash up in

Disliked: The lighting the loos didn't seem to work overnight and would be handy to have a mirror.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: As a recently opened site; this site has much potential. Very reasonably priced as only had limited facilities at this time (no showers yet).
We had a large pitch and on our first night we were the only campers (everyone else knew there was going to be gale force winds). Still, we were fine.
During our stay the owners came daily to check we were ok and asked for our feedback.
The animals and play park are a great attraction to the younger guests (though we were all taken with the baby goat).
All in all a great site and we would definitely recommend to others/visit again.
