Park setting

  • Friendly well-maintained park on the banks of Wooler Water
  • Lounge bar, restaurant and entertainment in peak season
  • A 10-minute uphill walk from the medieval market town of Wooler
Avoid the crowds crawling to the southwest coast and breeze your way to Riverside Country Park on the edge of the Northumberland National Park instead… This is a friendly, well-maintained site on the banks of Wooler Water, with plenty to appeal to the whole family: perhaps pottering around the riverbanks and stunning woodland, splashing about in the indoor swimming pool, baiting rods for a bit of fly fishing, or a few rounds of pool in the games room. The park has good essential amenities, including a lounge bar and restaurant with Sky Sports and BT Sports, a shop, launderette, play area and entertainment over peak season. It's also only 10 minutes' uphill walk away from the centre of Wooler, a medieval market town with restaurants, coffee shops and lots to browse around.

Liked Lovely park by the river, loved how the ducks roamed about the site not bothered about us humans!

Disliked Toilet block could do with an upgrade, clean enough but shower changing area very small and no bench to sit and get ready

Recommend to friends Visit again

Liked We had a great pitch with loads of space for our van and awning, the cost was well worth it for an electric hook up pitch. The onsite facilities were clean and checked regularly. There was a great atmosphere onsite and the ducks were just the cutest!

Disliked The club house was small for the amount of people that went across to it. We appreciate we were there during the school holidays but kids were running round unsupervised - maybe just having an adult only area for people who were there without children might be an idea

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the lovely feedback! We're so glad you enjoyed the spacious pitch, clean facilities, and friendly atmosphere—plus the ducks always steal the show 🦆

We appreciate your thoughts on the clubhouse. It’s a helpful suggestion, especially during busy times like school holidays.

Hope to welcome you back again soon!

Liked This is the second time I have been to this site as a single female with a toddler.
Very easy check in with lovely friendly staff and lovely pitches, lots of space for playing on bikes, a lovely park and entertainment with pool just a short walk along the river which is very picturesque.
Also only 5 minutes walk into into Wooler town with has a few shops, pubs, cafes, and takeaways which is convenient.
Thank you, we will definitely be back again
:)

Disliked Small toilet and shower area but also I have never not being able to use the facilities when I've needed too.

Liked Lovely family friendly site, greeted by really helpful staff. Pitch was great on the river banks and was a lovely walk into the local town. Dog friendly everywhere we looked in Wooller so great for your fury friends. Toilet/shower block clean and functional.

Disliked Only comment is that our pitch wasn't clearly marked up however staff informed and the will rectify this.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the lovely review! We're so glad you enjoyed the riverside pitch, friendly atmosphere, and dog-friendly surroundings—sounds like a great stay.

Appreciate the note about pitch markings too; it's on our radar and will be sorted.

Liked Staff are very friendly and helpful. The grounds around the static caravans are beautifully kept. There is a nice sunny sitting area outside the pub.

Disliked I’m not a whinger but I feel I need to be honest with things I didn’t like on this occasion. The touring area is quite small which is also reflected in the size of many of the pitches. Once a caravan put up an awning there was little space to park a car, which resulted in random cars parked on any spare bit of grass, either local to the owners van or somewhere else. Much of the touring site is taken up by seasonal pitches, with the resulting fences, storage boxes, bbq areas etc, which all takes up otherwise parking areas. In the area we were in our neighbours were constantly playing loud music, shouting or arguing with each other, although it did quieten down at 23.00 hours. We did in fact meet some really nice people during our stay, they were not all rowdy. There is a lake on site where it is claimed contains fish. In the time we were there I did not see any sign of life in it except for ducks, possibly due to the large amount of duck crap which was all over the place and in the lake. The toilet facilities are tired and in much need of renovation. Sorry to sound negative but I speak as I find.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for your honest and thoughtful review. We're really pleased you appreciated the friendly staff, well-kept grounds, and sunny pub area—those are things we’re proud of.

We’re sorry to hear the touring area didn’t meet expectations this time. Your feedback on pitch sizes, parking, noise levels, and facilities is valuable and will be shared with the team. It’s important to us that all guests feel comfortable and relaxed during their stay.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience.

Local attractions

Trip-trap over the bridge from Riverside Country Park to Wooler, a pretty medieval market town with some alluring eateries, pubs and shops, and the ideal starting point for walks into the Cheviot Hills and the Northumberland National Park. Cycling, fishing, golfing and horse riding fans will also find rich pickings nearby. If you haven’t explored the Northumberland coastline before, you’re in for a treat. Expect atmospheric ancient edifices in spectacular surroundings, such as Bamburgh Castle and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne; seaside villages like Seahouses, where you can jump aboard a sea safari boat to the Farne Islands; and miles and miles of nature reserves and wide sandy beaches. You can follow Hadrian’s Wall westbound from its start point in Wallsend, stopping off at Roman forts in scenic settings as you head in the direction of Carlisle; travel along peaceful country roads to explore the Scottish borders; or south to visit Alnwick Castle and the Alnwick Garden, contemporary gardens with one of the world’s biggest treehouses. For city lights, hit the A1 for an easy ride to Newcastle and Gateshead, both buzzing with culture (try the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art or a gig at the Sage Concert Hall), museums, football, restaurants, nightlife and shops; or head further north for a day trip to the many-splendoured delights of Edinburgh.
