What customers say
A welcoming, well-situated park with roomy, serviced sites. Staff, especially Warden Gordon, get high marks for helpfulness. Upgrades are underway, so some dated facilities are limited but clean. Expect occasional construction. A quiet spot for exploring, with great transit.

A lot of improvement work ongoing but still a quiet site.
FHU gravel travel trailer campsite
Liked Good hard standing pitch well maintained.
Gordon the warden was brilliant, always smiling and his local knowledge of surrounding area was great.

Basic facilities but site kept very well by Gordon.
Powered grass campsite
Liked Great size level pitch
Ideal location for what we wanted to do - see family, National Trust and seaside.
Site manager Gordon was fab. Local knowledge, great with the kids and friendly chat.
Disliked Not a dislike but could be better once the site is busier (there are plans afoot by new owners) - there needs to be more showers, toilets, washing up facilities and maybe a play area for children.

Powered grass campsite
Liked Gordon, the warden, was an absolute star and very welcoming!
Clean site, loads of space and lovely views
Disliked Facilities are pretty basic, only a single sink for washing up, and no drainer, and one shower each for lads and lasses. Could do with a family room.
The ground is absolutely rock solid! Even 9mm steel rock pegs just bent and broke, and were a nightmare to get out again after. Take a claw hammer for peg retrieval!

Liked Gordon the warden, very friendly and helpful. Beautiful surrounding area, and the bus to Newcastle passes the gate. Large south facing pitch. Hot showers.
Disliked Lots of work going on, site in the process of being modernised. It's going to be lovely when finished. None of this affected our 8 night holiday.

FHU gravel travel trailer campsite
Liked Lovely quiet site with an excellent host, very clean and tidy.
The serviced pitches are level.
Lots of space for the kids to run around and burn off their excess energy
Bus stop is quite close with an hourly service to Hexham and Newcastle
Disliked The toilet and shower block, as others have said, is somewhat basic and only has one shower (on the male side at least) but it is kept very clean so no complaints on that score.
They are about to install more static caravans on the site so I don't know how that will affect the existing pitches and ambience of the site.
