The campsite

  • Small adults-only site in rural North Yorkshire
  • A five-minute drive from Ravenscar; Scarborough 15 minutes
  • Just off the Cinder Track; access to car-free trails; honesty shop
Whitby or Scarborough? Scarborough or Whitby? At Valley View Camping, kiss that age-old dilemma goodbye and settle down somewhere with easy access to both of North Yorkshire's most popular seaside resorts. Driving to either is a breeze – Scarborough is 15 minutes away by road, while you can reach Whitby in about 20. But there are rewards for travelling under your own steam too – the site is a few minutes' walk from the Cinder Track, a traffic-free bike and walking trail that connects up Yorkshire's seaside capitals, passing through lots of scenic spots that you might otherwise miss. Valley View Camping's level grounds are small in scale and overlook peaceful open countryside. It's an adults-only setup too, so the place should stay nice and peaceful while you relax, perhaps settling in for drinks and meals on the picnic tables provided (you're welcome to bring along a barbecue to create those meals if you like). Other facilities on site include an honesty shop, showers, toilets and chemical disposal. In need of village amenities? Here you're a five-minute drive from Ravenscar's tea rooms, public toilets and stony beach. The nearest farm shop is three miles to the south in Cloughton Newlands. When you arrive, just park up and pick your pitch (with any awnings to the right, please).

Primitive cement/asphalt and grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Our first stay but we will definitely return.
Nice & quiet, clean, lovely views of the sea & countryside, lovely walks. Toilets, showers, communal kitchen & honesty shop, although we took what we needed with us, so we didn't check this out so not sure what was available.

The Deer camping pod

Liked The decor in the pod. Everything was super clean and the bedding smelled lovely. The toilets and showers were spotless and the site was tidy. The little cat was lovely and the skies were the clearest I've ever seen. All in all a lovely peaceful site.

Woodpecker shepherd's hut

Liked The shepherds hut was located in a quiet corner of the campsite away from everyone else with fabulous views over the surrounding fields and a very short path dropped us straight onto the cinder track from which either way led to lovely walks and gorgeous views. The hut was very well equipped, warm and a very comfortable bed. Everything was clean and well looked after, and no midges at all when we sat out on an evening - bonus. It was an absolute pleasure staying here and we have been recommending it and the whole site to our friends and family.

The Deer camping pod

Liked The pod was just as it is shown on the website. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of room. There was a bin provided along with cleaning materials and a reed diffuser, which made it very welcoming. The pod uses solar power, which was enough to power the lights and charge our phones. The view from the pod was beautiful and it was very peaceful. The toilets and showers were clean and spacious and there is a kitchen where you can wash up, with a kettle and microwave that you can use. We particularly liked the "honesty" shop which had all the basic things you might need and the facility to pay by card as well as cash.

Primitive cement/asphalt and grass tent or RV campsite

Liked A very peaceful location with stunning views. The facilities were spotless, showers hot and the kitchen was basic but had everything you needed for your stay. The honesty shop is a great idea and we'll stocked. There were plenty of walks directly from the campsite. We loved everything about the site - it's a real hidden gem..

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Wow.. what to start with?

First things first - please bare with me as I'm not an English native speaker.

- Most important: SO clean and tidy

- Absolutely fantastic view, especially from pitches with view onto the sea

- Little honesty shop with important (and not so important but lovely to have: sweets, candy :) ) things you frequently use and need

Everything you need but without things not needed:

- Newly built, in sufficient amount, VERY tidy and well equipped toilets which are cleaned daily and due to adults only site usually in pretty good conditions all over the day (hint: that's not to prejudge ALL children and more often it's a problem with people not educating their seedlings properly but nevertheless it IS a problem we unfortunately experienced a lot in the last years...)

- Also newly built, tidy as well, and spacious showers which are also cleaned daily

- Small shop with kindling and (small) log wood for campfires in suitable containers (to bring with you), some well chosen specialties and basic food, sweets, chocolate bars, drinks, crisps, popcorn, and so on and payable via PayPal or SumUp or cash. Well done, peeps!!

- Spacious pitches, grass or hard-standing, with and without electric hookup

- No need for a site manager who's sitting around all day long. Everything works and doesn't have to be explained. Where necessary, you'll find small signs helping you in finding your way around

Long story short: we LOVED this lovely place and all in all we clearly and without exaggerating have to say that this experience on this jewel of a campsite was by far the very best in three years of yearly several weeks of camping with a camper van!

Disliked There is without kidding really literally nothing, not a single aspect we could complain about. Even weather was a pure dream ;)

If searching for something to put in here: some guys left tent pegs in the grass which we pulled out to prevent damage and harms. Watch out for them to avoid flat tyre.
But of course that's nothing to blame the campsite or the operator of the site for :)
