'All singing, all dancing' is what the friendly folk at York Meadows Caravan Park eight miles from the grand old centre of York say about their site, and after a quick perusal of the site facilities you'll likely fully agree. The location here is pretty splendid too, tucked down a private lane near the village of Sheriff Hutton, close to York but also the Yorkshire coast, and surrounded by a network of public footpaths including the Ebor Way, Wold Way and Centenary Way. (If you fancy wandering further, ask the owners for their suggestions, as they're happy hikers of these parts.) Don't want to walk too far? Wander into the friendly village instead for the village shop and to investigate the two pubs. However. The York Meadows folk also point out that guests might not want to leave the park at all… The play area is just grand, with swings, zipwire, a climbing frame and a slide, as well as outdoor table tennis, giant draughts, and snake and ladders; meanwhile, the reception shop sells all you might have forgotten such as bread and milk as well as burgers and bangers: yes, barbecues are allowed here… Don't fancy cooking? Ring one of the local takeaways and get your dinner delivered right to the site, or try a couple of the York Meadows's team's recommendations like the Highwayman Inn in Sheriff Hutton, selling homemade food using fresh local produce, or Thompsons Fish Restaurant and takeaway on Malton Road: anywhere that's won awards for its fish and chips might sound pretty grand to you too.

Liked: Lovely friendly welcome. Good advice about the site facilities and about how best to get to York for a day trip (had hoped for a bus from near the site, but the Park & Ride option seemed more practical). Simple site with clean facilities. We had a pitch where we weren't too close to others, so nice and quiet and private.

Disliked: I was there with my 6 year old grandson. He loved the zip wire, but found the other toys targeted more at younger children, which was a little disappointing.

Liked: Location and site facilities clean

Disliked: Pitch was disappointing very bottom of site like it was spare area over looking bushes,in a block of 3, area full of sticks and branches we paid for 2 nights a Pitch same price as others and there were lots of spaces.

Liked: The friendly staff on arrival and throughout. Very helpful!
We loved the dog walking area and football pitch! Very good use of space! Our dog loved it. The pitches were perfect and such a lovely site.
The children's games and play park was fantastic too! Our son loved it!

Liked: Peacefulness of the site, cleanliness of facilities, friendly and helpful staff. Good location.

Sheriff Hutton is a pretty place to start when considering the countryside around here. And then one must go Yorkwards, to the splendid city with York Minster, cobbled streets, York Dungeon, York Railway Museum, the Jorvik Viking Centre… Spend some time too among the market, shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs of the Shambles, the teeny streets that are among the most snapped shots of York. Plenty of indoor options are around if the weather decides to be a tad inconsiderate: you could dash to an indoor play centre nearby or take the tour at York's Chocolate Story (yes, tastings are included…) Bigger parks like Flamingo Land and Lightwater Valley are in the area too. Golf? Greens surrounding the park include Sandburn Hall (with other activities too), York Golf Club, Fulford Golf Club, Easingwold Golf Club and Ampleforth Golf Club. Fishing? Also popular in these parts: cast off locally at Pottery Pond, Birkdale Farm, and Brickyard Farm Lakes. Quiet hours must be respected between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and trunks must be closed quietly.
The grocery shop is open between 03/01 and 10/31.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behavior is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
