  • Wild camping on a laidback Suffolk farm
  • A quarter of an hour's drive from Southwold or RSPB Minsmere
  • Local produce sold on site; a mile from a pub and butcher's shop
Beetlebank Farm Wild Camping is a laidback and rural pitching spot surrounded by spectacular Suffolk farmland. Set just back from the A144 and a mile from the village of Bramfield – home to a butcher's and a pub – this site is has excellent views across the countryside and is about a quarter of an hour's drive from England's east coast. The farm is a small, regenerative working farm with rare-breed sheep, goats, chickens and other livestock. There is also a small market garden and flower farm where you can buy freshly-laid eggs and farm-harvested veggies. This is a place where you can leave mod cons at home and reconnect with nature in the fresh air. The farm is surrounded by mature oak trees, bird-filled hedgerows and other rural sounds like the far-off bleating of sheep, making it a great backdrop for simple and serene breaks. Beetlebank Farm Wild Camping supplies all parties coming here with a five-litre bottle of drinking water, as there is no drinking tap available on site (additional bottles can be bought). There are well-maintained portable toilets here, but electricity, showers and other things will need to be sought out in the local area.

Beetlebank Farm offers a true wild camping experience in a peaceful, beautiful setting with welcoming hosts. Guests praise the clean portaloos, available water, and convenient location near Halesworth and Dunwich. Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked Communication, easy to find. A well kept field, easy on the pegs with plenty of level ground. I found a sealed 5ltr bottle of good water perfectly adequate and the portaloo clean and well supplied.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked A real wild camping experience, just with toilets! Had a great time overall

Disliked Traffic noise can be a bit much but it does fade away later in the night. The ground was very lumpy.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked We enjoyed our stay at Beetlebank Farm. It is a lovely site, with a magnificent oak tree in the middle of it (with swing on it too!)

I found the site owner to be very proactive in getting in touch prior to the stay, with directions and reassurance that we could call him if we needed to, which provided a lot of peace of mind.

The toilets were clean and with plenty of toilet roll and cleaning gel. It was a nice touch to be given bottles of water for our stay too. It's a massive bonus that you can have fires there too - we took a metal fire pit with us but I don't think we needed to have done that as it seems others have had them safely on the ground.

The only slight downside is the proximity to the road but after about 11pm we heard next to nothing until the morning.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked Simple and stripped back. Good price.

Disliked A little noisier than expected with road noise. Had some noisy neighbours too but that's no fault of the site.
