  • Seaside family park 15 minutes' drive from Lowestoft
  • Access to lots of sporting and watersports activities
  • Spa, sports bar, pools, adventure playground, bar and restaurant
Starland Krew and sandcastles for the munchkins, a spa bath, a sports bar, and fish and chip-fuelled smiles all round… guests can pick and mix from a vast menu of family activities at Kessingland Beach Holiday Park, on the gorgeous Suffolk coast just north of the Benacre National Nature Reserve and 15 minutes' drive from Lowestoft. Guests at this seaside site have access to great sports and watersports facilities, playing all sorts of games at the multisports court, shooting down the waterslide into the indoor pool, splashing about in the open-air pool or wallowing contentedly in the adjacent hot tub. For the under-11s, the kids' clubs have activities to please sporty, arty and smartypants types alike and there’s an undercover play area and an outdoor adventure playground too, with a zipwire for the intrepid and swings and slides for those who prefer more placid playtime. Whatever activity you select can be followed up by gathering all ages for something from the frisky programme of family entertainment for the evenings. Aside from the chippy and other takeaway food, the on-site Boathouse bar and restaurant serves up a good range of grub. Go on, have that pudding – there’s a lovely beach right outside where you can stroll it all off.

Liked The pitch we had was perfect for us for our tent, we booked the larger pitch as we have a nervous dog and we were set back not near the road or walk ways, it’s is a lovely site, we bought a campervan while we were on holiday so we booked an extra night on the tent field (only as electric hook ups were fully booked) so we could also try the camper an with the awning, the staff are all really friendly, the on site shop fully stocked, the toilets & showers are all clean and the showers are hot content ask for more, we will be booking again soon

Powered grass campsite

Liked location of the campsite,
close to the beach,
swimming pools,
clean

Disliked too few toilets, too far to the toilet, the building with the toilets was close to the houses that have their own toilets, those who need it the most had to walk far. The pool inside and the toilets need renovation. on Sundays everything closed earlier, we left a day earlier because there was nothing to do there because it was raining. even the ice cream shop closed earlier. The pool was also not available in the afternoon

Lovely site, pitches lovely and flat, and very helpful guy in charge…

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely site, pitches lovely and flat, and very helpful guy in charge of camping pitches.
Short walk to the the sandy pebbley beach. Resterant and take away good and service quuc and efficiant.

Disliked Bit of a hike to the toilet block from the camping pitches with them being located within the mobile homes rather than nearer the camping pitches which wasn't ideal with 3 12 Yr olds and 2 mums!

Local attractions

The nearby seaside towns of Lowestoft (15 minutes' drive) and Southwold (20 minutes) are among the most charming in the country: think fab family beaches, candy-coloured beach huts, piers and proms, plus buckets and spades of old-school charm. Aim for the former if you're after a bit of watersports action, or pick the latter for chi-chi shops, a zany pier attraction and seafront walks to Walberswick. Swap beaches for beasties with family outings to see the exotic beasts roaming the plains of Suffolk at Africa Alive! (five minutes), or seek out seahorses, sharks and penguins at Sea Life Great Yarmouth (35 minutes). For wildlife of a more local variety, nip up to the waterways of the Norfolk Broads (half an hour) where you can become captain of your own boat for the day (or take a tour if you're unsure of your navigational expertise…) For family fun on a grand scale, head to Pleasurewood Family Theme Park (25 minutes); at the opposite end of the spectrum is the tiny townscape at Merrivale Model Village (35 minutes). And somewhere in the middle is the swish Victorian pad at Somerleyton Hall (half an hour), where both mansion and gardens are worth a stroll.
