  • Scenic, back to basics site on the outskirts of Ipswich
  • A 15-minute drive to the Suffolk coast; 20 minutes to Sutton Hoo
  • A 10-minute drive from the town centre for shops; dog-friendly
Aiming to bag a bargain place to stay in Ipswich? Perhaps looking to mix up a fresh-air break with some town time? Either way, Trinity Park Camping makes a fine choice for an outdoor break – this parkland site may be most famous for being the location of the annual Suffolk Show, but it’s a fab spot to settle in at any time for breaks that combine town, country and coast time. The location is a real winner here: a 10-minute drive from either the A12 or A14 brings you to this site on the outskirts of Ipswich; it’ll also take you about 10 minutes to get into the town centre if you need shops, restaurants or other urban amenities. Turn your sights in a different direction and you can get to the Suffolk coast in about 15 minutes or head for historic Sutton Hoo in about 20 minutes.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: What a wonderful place to stay if you like nature and being at one with the elements then this the place to be.
Pitch up chill out.
If you a keen birdy 🐦 person then there's plenty here all the common ones and some wood peckers, buzzards and even a cuckoo..
Do like looking at the stars? they even have those as well lay back on the floor look up and it's all there for your enjoyment.
Truly wonderful place great for meditation as well.
Good location for shops or you can have your favourite take away delivered if you don't want to go out.
Yep it's all here 🙌 😊 😀

Disliked: Nothing to dislike.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Surroundings are beautiful and relaxing, normally!

Disliked: Supposed to be secure site, NOT, gate had been left wide open. On entry a collection of people were camped with lorries laden with goodness knows what, dogs and children running around. We decided to leave.

From the manager: Good afternoon Michelle, sorry you choose not to stay with us at Trinity Park, the group you mention booked and paid for the period they stayed with us. We did speak to them re the gate and after that there was no further problems. We are an all inclusive site welcoming all including families and pets (you had a number of dogs with you) we will act accordingly when required to any proven security threat but will not act on bias.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Beautiful grounds

Disliked: Unsecured. Gate left open by people already there. Dogs wandering loose, blocking my arrival and kept coming over to me while setting up. Decided to lose my booking fee and go elsewhere. Would have been fine had it not been for 4 vans and owners already there.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: I was the only person on the campsite

Disliked: To be honest I thought this looks nice
Then I was annoyed by the amount of dog walkers coming up to the van and walking around at all times of the day and evening with owners shouting then to top it off I'd pitch next to a dog training camp so woke by dogs and people shouting
No toilet oh then woke up by people playing golf hitting the ball near my van

From the manager: Hello, sorry you didn't enjoy your stay, did you pitch up in the private area or on the main field? We have a private enclave for campers which is more private, so has less intrusion from other activities. Apologies if you didn't find this area, we will review the signage and make it clearer.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Flat terrain and quite soft witch is handy when hammering pegs in.
Very close to town with shops and facilities needed. There is no toilet on site but it is very clearly stated while you are booking it in so that wasn't a problem for us.
Great for walkers. Spend there 3 nights and loved it.

Local attractions

Starting off in Ipswich? The riverside town has a lovely waterfront to explore, a couple of great theatres and some intriguing museums (the collection of old vehicles at the Museum of Transport is a perennial favourite with all ages). To the coast next perhaps? It’s a 15-minute drive to Felixstowe beach, or around 35 minutes to either Aldeburgh or Thorpeness. The excellent pier at Southwold is 45 minutes away, as is Walberswick, a popular spot for crabbing. You may be able to take paddles or swims from any of these, but for more extensive watersports you’ll want to head to Alton Water (20 minutes’ drive). For history-themed ambles, try the likes of the Anglo-Saxon Sutton Hoo (20 minutes), 12th-century Framlingham Castle (half an hour) and the splendid rotunda at Ickworth House (45 minutes). If the kids prefer animal encounters, make a trip to Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park (15 minutes), Easton Farm Park (25 minutes) or the big beasts of Africa Alive! (an hour).
