  • Peaceful site on a working farm 10 minutes' drive from Halesworth
  • A 10-minute drive to Dunwich beach; 15 minutes to Southwold
  • Spacious pitches with firepit provided and firewood for sale
Relaxed Suffolk stays on spacious pitches are what’s on offer at Brights Farm Camping, part of a traditional family-run working farm in a rural spot 10 minutes’ drive from Halesworth and the Suffolk coastline. Expect lots of quiet, nice sunsets, dark skies and miles of wildflower walks nearby. This is a working livestock grassland farm that spends most of its time producing silage and hay to feed the calves born in early spring – and fittingly you’ll likely spot a few cows around the place, along with a small flock of chickens. Those grasses are also popular with wildlife so have a look around to see what sort of butterflies and other beasties you can spot around the field (and you might also spot the three-carriage coastal train as it passes by twice an hour… give it a wave as it goes). Human guests are well catered for here too: pitches are generously sized, and each one is provided with a firepit (plus barbecue grill). Firewood can be bought on site, or you can bring your own charcoal along if you prefer. There are piped mains water points close to each pitch, and it’s a short stroll to the shared toilet and hot shower facilities. Halesworth’s the place to pick up foodie bits for your grill – particularly if you stop by on a Wednesday when the market’s running. Closer to home, there’s a village shop a mile away in Bramfield, along with a gastropub for those who don’t fancy doing the cooking. A top-notch bakery is a couple of minutes’ drive away too for breakfast goodies and picnic supplies.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: An absolutely beautiful place to stay! It was just what we needed! The attention to detail on the compost toilets and the shower were a definite highlight! Absolutely gorgeous with all the fairy lights at night. Every pitch comes with its own fire pit where you can cook up some delicious meals and you can buy the wood onsite for a very good price! The location is perfect if you want to pop to several gorgeous beaches! Warm and welcoming host! Highly recommended.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked: The complete quiet. Beautiful surroundings. Really good distance between pitches.
Shauna was very friendly and helpful.
Great shower and very clean compost toilet. Loved the recycled decor in the loo/shower.

Disliked: I was a bit perturbed that we had to cross a railway level crossing on the farm but we were camped so far away that we did not hear the trains at all.
Sloping walk to toilet and showers was for us both but might not suit everyone.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: My girlfriend and I came here for a long weekend (Thurs-Sun) and it was such a lovely site! Both the shower and toilets were kept so clean, and the shower is so warm and powerful, would gladly have this as my shower at home!
The site is great as it's really easily accessible but feels like you are right off the beaten track. It was just us for the first night but even when other guests arrived it still felt like you had the place to yourself and was so peaceful. Shauna and her son Will were so helpful and you get a big tub of firewood for £10 that lasted us the whole time and it was a delight to sit by the fire and look at the stars! The stars were amazing and we saw so many shooting stars, which was such an added bonus! The pitch was a really good size and I liked that we could have our car parked adjacent to our camp for easy load/unload. You're 10min drive from Dunwich beach and a little further for other towns/beaches. Would definitely return!

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked: We stayed for 2 nights, Shouna the host was amazing, this is working farm and she made us feel super welcome. When she said the outdoor shower was good, I was dubious, but wow! It was amazing!

The composting toilet worked perfectly.

If you want somewhere extremely peaceful with amazing star gazing opportunity or if you like a good old fire. This place is very spacial and would not disappoint. Thanks Shouna for our stay.

We will be back :)

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Quiet, calm, relaxed campsite!
Each party has their own site mown in the long grass and parking spaces evenly distributed along the field, so you feel like you have your own space and privacy but close enough to other groups. There’s a compost toilet which was immaculately maintained, lots of water stations all over and hand soap. A hot shower with lots of places to hang you stuff and super clean. There’s also a washing up space (but we didn’t use). A campfire spot you can use as you wish. It really was perfectly maintained campsite and has everything you’d need. Shauna was very friendly and helpful … one thing to note: The campsite is accessible by crossing a railway line, which you need to open the gates for yourself if you loads by foot or by car and after Shauna explained the safest way to do so we were confident in using.

Disliked: Really isn’t anything we didn’t like!
