  • Quiet stays on a family-run site in rural Norfolk
  • A 10-minute drive from Wisbech; 30 minutes from Sandringham
  • On-site fishing lake and function room; rallies welcome
Keep things chill at Westerby Farm Caravan and Campsite, a small-scale Cambridgeshire spot that welcomes fans of touring, camping and glamping to the peace and quiet of rural East Anglia. Set in the scenic Fenland District 10 minutes' drive from the small market town of Wisbech, this family-run farm makes an attractive base for all manner of outdoor breaks. These well-maintained grounds have several attractions to make stays here more comfortable and interesting – think a peaceful catch-and-release fishing lake, plenty of picnic benches, a small on-site food shop and a functions room that can be booked for rallies or events. Firepits are also available to hire, so you'll be toasty well into the evening too. A takeaway, convenience store, post office, restaurant and playing field are all under a mile away in the nearby village of Outwell, where there is also a local pub. Five miles away, meanwhile, Wisbech town centre has a full-sized supermarket as well as sports and leisure facilities, including a museum, parks, riverside walks and Peckover House and Garden, a National Trust property. In terms of rules, this site welcomes all kinds of groups, but please respect quiet hours between 10 at night and 8 in the morning and be mindful that there are kids around. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Westerby Farm Caravan and Campsite.

The Old Stables cabin (four person)

Liked Stayed here in the old stables cabin midweek Monday-Friday with dogs. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and nothing was too much trouble. When we arrived the cabin only has non standard plugs and they provided my husband with an extension for his medical device needed with no issues and also
extensions for our phone chargers.
Everywhere is really clean and all facilities are provided. Plenty of space to walk the dogs and the campsite is in a great location to access nearby beaches and places to visit. Co-op not so far away also.
Enjoyed a lovely breakfast on our last day. The hot tub was lovely and very modern and clean. The cabin itself was very well decorated and the bed was extremely comfy.
Toilet and shower block was very clean and provided excellent facilities. The owners presence on site provided a refreshing experience which made you feel welcomed.
The small kitchenette was sufficient. The only thing you miss out on is some form of oven potentially.
Maybe a small air fryer for the future could be supplied? There was a shared freezer in the washing up hut which came in handy for ice etc and the fridge in the kitchenette had a small freezer compartment.
Only two suggestions I would make is for night time use to have some form of push button light in the toilet cubicles as despite the light pull for the overall toilet block, once the door is shut it's quite dark. Also for the summer periods a lighter duvet as an option (personal preference) may be an idea as the duvet was very heavy tog and with the hot weather it was quite warm during the night.
Overall a fantastic glamping and camping site.
Felt very luxury but for a very affordable price.
Thankyou

The Old Stables cabin (four person)

Liked We loved our stay, we stayed in the old stables cabin. The owners messaged me before we arrived with all the details that we needed. When we got there the owners was there and they greated us and showed us what's what. The cabin was nice clean and smelt clean when we went in. The kitchen area was equipped out with every think you need ( we brought our own). The campsite is lovely and clean and well managed, showers and toilets was clean and cleaned every day whilst we was there. We ordered breakfast and it came on the time that was given and arrived nice and hot. Next day we came to use the hot tub and one side (the jets) wasn't working so we messaged and withing 2 minutes the owner came and sort it( we turnt them off and didnt releases). The owners are lovely, easy to approach, very smiley and helpful. We brought some logs of them and they provided the coal ( which I think they should charge).

Disliked The only thing I would change, is the showers. To use the shower you have to press a button to get the water, and keep pushing the button to have a decent shower. But we manged to have a shower and they was clean so not really a problem.

Primitive grass tent campsite (large)

Liked Very tidy and clean site. The facilities were clean and easy to find. Pitches set out well. Set in a nice quiet spot off any main roads. Easy to find. Nice shop on site. Great play area for the kids and luckily opposite our pitch so we could keep an eye on them.

The place was spotless and the beds super comfy. The directions were messaged to me on the morning and easy to access property. Kids area was fab. Decking with eating areea was lovely. Had everything to use BBQ. Very clean and inviting. Overall wonderfully we all really loved it.

Disliked A sachet of coffee/milk would have been a bonus.

Poppy cabin (four person)

Liked Good communication from the owners. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable with some nice touches that showed they cared what you thought of the place. The facilities were well maintained as were the grounds. Nice peaceful surroundings and pleasant view. They have put a lot of thought into spacing out the accommodations and arranging them so you are not unnecessarily overlooked. Lovely place and we will definitely be back at some time.

Local attractions

While you're staying here, make sure to take a peek at Peckover House and Garden (10 minutes' drive), an 18th-century country estate in the gorgeous Isle of Ely area. For a bigger day out, you could also take yourself off to the Sandringham Estate (30 minutes) over the border in Norfolk, where there are 60 acres of landscaped gardens to explore plus extensive rolling parklands. Got birds on the brain? There's a lot of feathered life in this part of East Anglia, so take the opportunity to learn more about it at WWT Welney, a stunning wetland centre home to camouflaged hides where you can spot a range of species. You could also learn how to handle bigger birds of prey at Fens Falconry (15 minutes), a locally run company based on the outskirts of Wisbech. For more family days out, set your satnav in the direction of Church Farm Stow Bardolph (20 minutes), a rare breeds centre with a playground and tea rooms, or drive over to the north Norfolk coast (40 minutes) to splay yourself out on its splendid sandy beaches.
