  • Off-grid, family-friendly pop-up campsite on a Norfolk nature reserve
  • ROARR! 20 minutes’ drive; Norfolk Coast National Landscape 25 minutes
  • Artisan shop, pizza van and café; Fakenham pubs five minutes’ drive
Like the sound of a 700-acre nature reserve to explore with the kids? Pensthorpe Summer Camping and Glamping is a pop-up site which provides guests with half-price entry to a nature reserve with a huge covered play area, outdoor adventures, den building in the woodland and way-marked routes through wildflower meadows and around lakes. There’s lots to keep everyone amused at this family-friendly site five minutes’ drive away from historic Fakenham in Norfolk. Buy supplies at the on-site shop and get down to barbecuing alfresco meals (firepits are available to hire). Other eating options include a twice-weekly pizza van, the on-site café (open daily 8am to 5pm) and the pubs, restaurants or takeaways in Fakenham if you want to eat later in the evening. If you do choose to visit the nature reserve too, you'll have somewhere to watch avocets, flamingos and cranes go about their daily business from bird hides and the option to follow a sculpture trail and join wildlife talks too. The pitches sit in peaceful fields within easy walking distance of the reserve and all its amenities. Please note that this is an off-grid pop-up site with solar-powered showers and toilets, but there is no electricity (you can always visit the café to charge phones/devices) so bring torches and batteries for wandering around at night – hopefully under clear skies ablaze with stars.
