An adults-only rural retreat in Norfolk sounding like just the job for you? How about cosying up in an off-grid pop-up site at The Falgate Shepherd’s Hut? Set on a smallholding 15 minutes’ drive from the supermarkets, pubs and tearooms in Attleborough, it’s got everything you need for a romantic stay, quiet break away from city life or just a change of scenery. Tucked away in a quiet corner of the farm that’s currently being re-wilded, the shepherd’s hut and its neighbouring converted horse box – your living space – provide a completely off-grid experience. The units do have solar lighting inside and out, a woodburning stove for warmth and hot water, and a camping stove and kitchen equipment so you can cook for yourselves – there’s also a picnic area for alfresco dining on warmer days. Practical facilities include exclusive-use composting toilets, a shower and wash basin. For company, you will hear the farm’s bees buzzing at a distance – you can see the hives from the hut – as well as birdsong and the rustling of wind through the trees. Otherwise, you have the place to yourselves…
