What customers say

Fen Farm is a pristine campsite in a lovely apple orchard, lauded for its peace and privacy. Guests rave about the spotless facilities, kitchen hut, and ample firewood. Great for families, it offers nature and farm animal encounters. Despite minor wind turbine noise & desire for more fridge/freezer space, reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Amazing campsite. We stayed over a weekend and I think every pitch was taken so it was relatively busy, but it still felt secluded thanks to all the apple trees around each pitch. Our three-year-old absolutely loved being able to eat apples straight from the tree. The sinks and showers etc were all kept very clean. And the extra large wheel barrows were particularly helpful with carrying things to and from the car.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Fen Farm is an amazing place for families and young children to truly enjoy and admire nature.
The orchard and sense of privacy that Vicky and Amy have created are just wonderful. It’s such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, surrounded by beautiful countryside.
The facilities are really well equipped, and the toilets and showers are always very clean. Everything feels thoughtfully maintained to make your stay comfortable.
I honestly can’t recommend it enough!!! I just love this place! I’ll definitely be booking more nights this summer.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Loved the setting and all the facilities provided. The kitchen does not have cooking facilities which we did not realise, but otherwise all that was supplied made our stay incredibly easy and comfortable. And the apple orchard pitch was absolutely lovely, so quiet and private and the owners could not have been more helpful. So many thanks for our lovely few days there.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked So much we loved! Just returned from a 3 day stay using our own tent.
A delightful orchard, well planned campsite pitches, a perfect size of campsite, fresh apples, attentive hosts in Amy and Vicky, best showers I’ve ever had while camping in big enough bathrooms (hot whenever we used them) and clean compost toilets. Everything has been thought of. The kitchen hut was handy with a kettle and toaster and utensils - very well signed, but helpfully utensils didn’t feel too precious so we borrowed what we had forgotten without worrying about them around a toddler. We had great weather so didn’t use it much beyond kettle/ toaster/ fridge/ washing up but can see it would be handy on wet days. We tried their cider, their apple juice, their burgers, their ice lollies…. All excellent. They sell kindling and wood and it was cheapest we’ve found at various holiday/ campsites in a while. It felt genuinely eco friendly but also without being in your face about it. It was lovely to be on a working farm and go out horse and cow spotting and our toddler loved seeing a field in the distance being ploughed, watching a horse have its hooves trimmed, watching an airplane take off and having a ride in a wheelbarrow. We loved foraging for sloes and blackberries. Turns out the thump from an apple falling from a tree is a charming sound. It was honestly idyllic! A refreshing change of scene. We really hope to come again and have already recommended to friends.

Disliked A few other camp guests had missed the memo that after 9pm it should be a little quieter. Maybe a reminder notice of this in the apple hut would help? But not a major problem and I understand the tension of not having too many signs! Probably not helped by us being earlier up with a toddler and a baby… who probably woke them up in turn 😂

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Lovely site. The pitches all had a good level of privacy as none of them overlooked each other. Nice and quiet (except for animals etc, which you'd expect in the country side!).
The toilet, shower and kitchen facilities were clean and well maintained.
Nice, friendly and helpful staff.

Disliked Nothing.

Local attractions

Whether it's punting on the Cam or sipping an ale at its bankside pubs, you’ll not be bored on a day trip to Cambridge: check out the colleges, the Fitzwilliam Museum and the Museum of Cambridge, then climb the (many) steps of Great St Mary's to see the town from above. Less than 30 minutes’ drive from Fen End Farm is the city of Ely, home to Ely Cathedral and its famed 14th-century octagonal lantern tower. If you only have time to do two things in Ely, make the cathedral one of them; the other should be a trip to Oliver Cromwell's House, the controversial one's farmhouse home now refurbished to show how it might have looked in Cromwellian times. Fen End Farm is 20 minutes from the Wicken National Nature Reserve for spotting hen harriers or water voles hiding out in the meadows and reedbeds of its 627-acre expanse. This has been a wildlife haven for aeons: Charles Darwin collected beetles here in the 1820s, and Cambridge boffins have published hundreds of papers throughout the decades on its wildlife. If you're equestrian-minded, gallop over to the National Stud (a 30-minute drive away) for a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of thoroughbred breeding. Wimpole Farm is within half an hour’s drive too – this is a rare breed centre, set amid an 18th-century and modern farmyard.
