  • Small adults-only site on a Worcestershire working farm
  • A 15-minute drive to Worcester; 25 minutes to the Malvern Hills
  • Dog-friendly park on site
If your dog needs a break as much as you do, then Gumburn Leisure Park could well be the place to make that happen. This Worcestershire site doesn’t accept kids, but the team are more than happy to welcome four-legged family members, who can have a good stretch at the safe dog-walking area and a cleanup using the outside tap if needed. This is a small site, with only a handful of pitches, so it’s a very peaceful setup. Its small stature doesn’t mean a lack of facilities, however: guests have access to showers, toilets, a washing-up area and waste disposal, plus a kettle for easy brews (and sometimes you’ll also find the owners popping round with fresh free-range eggs if you want to buy any…) The site’s grass pitches are within the grounds of a 75-acre family-run sheep farm, where you can sit and gaze out over the farmland. There are lots of quiet roads and paths to roam along nearby, and it’s about a 25-minute drive to more trails in the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. For a change of scenery, take the 25-minute drive to Worcester for shops, restaurants and a visit to the cathedral. For eats closer to home, guests can take a five-minute stroll to the village's pet-friendly country pub, which serves a range of alcoholic and soft drinks, wholesome pub grub, coffees and hot chocolates. It's open daily, with food served between 12pm and 8pm and a beer garden or indoor area with an open fire. There’s also a fish and chip van in the neighbouring village every Saturday night, or you can take the 10-minute drive to Ombersley for restaurants and pubs (one of which has a Michelin star, no less…) If you’d rather stick to self catering, stock up at the local farm shops, butchers and veg shops, then light up a barbecue by your pitch.

Liked: good peaceful site with good views pitches well kept

Disliked: no welcome or shown any facilities on the site.the site uses organic toilet fluid
no mention of this until you go to empty the tank not even on the site rules which we found on a scruffy piece of paper in the information hut.
shower needs a revamp.
the site lighting needs repairing along the fence path.
wifi non existent unless your very close.

From the manager: So sorry to read your negative review. As mentioned in our site details we are a working farm and always very busy so do not bother our campers but are always around to offer help if needed. We also send out a very extensive email before your arrival to ensure most questions are answered. The Wi-Fi does work on all pitches and has been tested by ourselves so not sure why this caused an issue for you. It is also free so hopefully you managed to enjoy the peace of the countryside whilst staying with us. Site rules are also clearly displayed on a large sign as you enter the site. Lastly, we have a septic tank so all we ask is that you do not flush any toilet wipes down there so unsure what you mean about the organic toilet fluid?

Quiet and peaceful site for relaxing weekend or a week away.

Liked: We really enjoyed our 5 nights stay at this small and quiet site. The view from our pitch was down to the small lake, pretty nice especially in the morning , when we could watch the sunrise. All pitches were quite flat and suitable for either tent , camp van or caravan. Size of the pitches was big enough to put our tent, car, trailer. And there was still plenty of space to walk around. Because of the size of this site the toilet block and washing up area were pretty compact, but then again, for only 5 pitches it was plenty enough. If all guests are considered about another ones ,it shouldn’t be any issue at all. The owners visited block regularly, adding the toilet rolls and cleaning if needed . The big light on the toilet block lit all area up to the last pitch and let walk there without any torch. We were a bit worried about noise in the night, because it was a working farm, but it was really quiet and peaceful. Obviously we could hear some noises of nature, what was natural for the rural area, but nothing serious , that could affect our night sleep. There were prepared bricks if you would like to use your portable barbecue, but we didn’t use it, because we had mini oven and hot plate. Location was great as well, not too far from the main road, but far enough do not hear any road traffic noises. Staying at this site was good value for money as well. We would definitely recommend this place if you would like to have some relaxing time and we would like to come back again as well.

Disliked: It wasn’t an issue for us really, because we used our mobile data, but both our Samsungs and both iPhones could see the network, but did manage to connect to it. No way it would stop us from coming back))))

Liked: Small site consisting of just 5 pitches which meant it was so peaceful and we had a really pleasant, hassle free stay.

Toilet block consists of 1 toilet for each gender and a shower which is enough given size of the site- clean and well stocked

Owners didn't hassle or pester, made contact prior reference pitch allocation and did greet us once we'd arrived and began to set up

Dog friendly and there's a little 5 minute dedicated dog walk at the edge of the pitches which is well done, too

Lovely, tucked away location with pretty country views to look out onto

Disliked: Appreciate there are likely to be regulations and certainly not a dislike but allowing small fire pits or something similar would be a lovely touch for a camping experience

WiFi was intermittent/ temperamental

Local attractions

Walking boots at the ready… the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (25 minutes’ drive) has some spectacular landscapes, including the Beacon Loop from Great Malvern, the Millennium Hill loop or North Hill. While nature takes some of the glory around these parts – as it rightly should – there's also a range of historical properties that are equally as spectacular. One is the birthplace of the composer Sir Edward Elgar, named The Firs (10 minutes' drive) and a lovely place for a stroll in the cottage gardens. Witley Court and Gardens (15 minutes), where fashionable people once partied, is now an excellent patch for woodland walks or garden strolls, and there are Spetchley Park Gardens (25 minutes) and Priory Park gardens (half an hour) for more of that sort of stuff. If you’d rather spend an afternoon sipping on the fine stuff and touring a vineyard, head to Astley Vineyard (15 minutes). Alternatively, plan ahead and find yourself an event at the Three Counties Showground (35 minutes).
