  • Pop-up site on a small farm in the Malvern Hills National Landscape
  • Malvern 10 minutes’ drive; Stratford-upon-Avon one hour
  • On-site dog park; resident farmyard animals; nearby fishing ponds
Whether you’re interested in witnessing the serene day-to-day life of well-kept farmyard animals or (vegetarians, look away now…) eating zero-kilometre sausages and burgers, Crowcroft Campsite might be the place for you. The owners of this pop-up site on a 40-acre smallholding on the eastern fringes of the spectacular Malvern Hills National Landscape raise rare-breed cows and pigs; while on site, you might also come across lambs and free-range chickens. The presence of farm animals doesn’t mean your (well-behaved) dog isn’t welcome at Crowcroft – quite the opposite: there is a dog park on site where your four-legged buddy can have a runaround off the lead, not to mention heaps of dog-friendly footpaths and bridleways in the surrounding countryside. Alongside grass pitches for tents and motorhomes, the site has a toilet and shower block with facilities for disabled guests. The nearby village of Leigh Sinton (five minutes’ drive) has a small shop for essentials (for anything else, head into Malvern, a 10-minute drive away), plus a takeaway restaurant and a pub serving locally sourced food and a selection of cask beers. Long hikes in the Malvern Hills will likely keep you busy for much of your stay here. Check out the Knapp and Papermill Nature Reserve (10 minutes), which comes alive with bluebells, cowslips and orchids that attract colourful butterflies. If you fancy something other than hikes, there are fishing ponds at Leigh Sinton Fisheries (five minutes) and a golf club in Bransford (also five minutes), on the A4103 road that connects Worcester to Hereford.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked A great little campsite which was all we needed for a couple of nights: big open (and safe) field, good clean toilets and showers with a communal undercover washing-up area with games - air hockey table included - toys and books to keep the kids occupied. Views onto north Malvern and plenty of paths and trails around the Leigh Sinton and Storridge woods, and, although it was noted by our almost four year old that there was no beach (🙄) the adjacent field with its friendly cows and calves sufficed for entertainment each morning and before bed.
The owners were lovely and friendly, coming around in the morning bringing bacon (from the farm) and bread, juice and milk and in the evening burgers and sausages (also from the farm) - we indulged both mornings despite having brought cereals. Note: you’ll need cash for these purchases.
Family of four (kids 3yrs 9mths and 2yrs 1mth in a 6.8m camper with solar (so no hook-up required).

Disliked Nothing - though it didn’t affect, us people waited for hot water to wash dishes with as it ran down quickly (the kids played, we sat and put our feet up). I would imagine it’ll become a popular place so addressing this might be in order if it does get busier, and some water taps into the main field alongside those next to the toilet block would be a welcomed first world problem extra. We really had no complaints though.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked This is a lovely peaceful campsite with very friendly owners, and SO many beautiful walks nearby. The toilets and showers were spotless, the pitches are very flat, and having an enclosed space for the dogs to use was a huge perk. The small barn with the washing up facilities was great too - the fridge/freezer is really helpful and my boys loved playing air hockey. I also loved being able to buy eggs from the little cart in the morning. Sally mentioned to me that this was their first summer of opening - I hope they repeat it next year, we’d love to come back!

Disliked I’m not sure this counts as a ‘dislike’ - as others have mentioned there are 2 toilets and 1 shower for males, and the same for females. Surprisingly, this didn’t cause a problem - I’d expected huge queues but there weren’t.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Amazing campsite! Stunning views looking onto the Malvern Hills in the distance.

Brand new toilet and washing up blocks! Spotless throughout our stay - even on a busy bank holiday weekend!

Amazing space for dogs to walk which was all enclosed (allowed on leads throughout the rest of the site). Also had a small barn space with books, toys and air hockey for children and families to use!

You can buy coffee, cake and plants on-site in their own garden tents and coffee shop. They also have small farm produce stands with seasonal goods!

Stunning site! Everything you could need is there :)

Disliked While spotless and brand new one shower and two toilets per gender was challenging on a busy weekend. Although the pleasant and polite campers meant taking turns was easy enough if you're happy to wait a moment or two!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely campsite, large open field with a few picnic benches, cafe on site for drinks and breakfast, I didnt try these but it looked nice, there's an undercover games area with pool and airhockey, a selection of games, fridge freezer great for keeping food fresh. The toilets and showers were kept really clean, although there were only 2 toilets and 1 shower in each, so did get a little busy when the site was fuller. The owners are lovely and chatty, if that's your thing, and make you feel welcome. They come round each morning with eggs, burgers, et. Some great dog walks just off site too. I really couldn't fault the site.

Disliked Struggled with WiFi and phone signal

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Nice campsite with good facilities and good local areas to walk the dog. Shared/communal fridge/freezer is a major bonus.

Disliked Toilets weren't the cleanest, however they were cleaned thoroughly, I believe it to be an individual camper being disrespectful of the facilities. It was reasonably busy.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Everything!
Great big, flat field. Loads of space for the kids to play and ride bikes. Facilities were fab and very clean. Air hockey table. Fridge and freezer. Garden center, coffee and snacks on site. Dog exercise area. Lots of toys and books. Chap selling eggs, bacon, juice etc… in the morning. Set in stunning countryside, we had a wonderful walk just from the site. We will return.

Disliked Washing up sinks too low. A minor gripe but I’m only 5’3 and it made my back ache washing up.

Local attractions

National Trust properties in the area include Brockhampton (25 minutes’ drive), a moated timber-framed house dating from the 14th century. The estate features vast stretches of ancient woodlands, as well as a whopping 145 acres of apple, plum and damson orchards crossed by hardstanding paths. Sitting on the banks of the Wye, Hereford (35 minutes) has several riverside green spaces, such as Bishops Meadow and Castle Green, which are linked by the pretty Victoria Bridge. Hereford Cathedral houses the Mappa Mundi, a map of the world as it was known in the 14th century, while the Black and White House Museum, in a half-timber building in the main square, displays period furniture. With the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Shakespeare’s Birthplace and multiple Shakespeare-inspired establishments, Stratford-upon-Avon (one hour) could be all about the Bard. But it doesn’t have to be: there are also other interesting places to visit, such as the MAD Museum of mechanical art and Stratford Butterfly Farm.
