  • Spacious Warwickshire park set in the grounds of a country estate
  • A 25-minute drive from Warwick Castle or Stratford-upon-Avon
  • On-site coffee shop, playgrounds and walking routes
Have your morning cuppa or coffee in the grounds of a gorgeous countryside estate, and stretch your legs around the walking trails. It’s not just the mornings that are splendid when you stay at Umberslade Estate – this well-maintained site surrounded by the green Warwickshire countryside also has playgrounds and a coffee shop, Espresso Farm, which is open for refreshments daily, between 9am and 4pm. Elsewhere on the farm, kids can get up to activities including forest school or exploring the indoor play barn (just talk to site staff for details). There are also plenty of animals to see in the fields and outdoor play areas that children are likely to enjoy spotting throughout their stay. When you’re ready to dig into some more substantial grub, the site is approximately a mile from the village of Tanworth-in-Arden, where there is a friendly local pub. Danzey railway station is also close by, just over a mile and a half to the south of the estate; Wood End station is just over two miles to the north. That makes getting about Warwickshire’s historic towns and cities pretty easy. Other top-notch facilities at this family-friendly place include state-of-the-art toilets and showers, handy washing up sinks and a room where guests can charge their mobile phones and other gadgets. Dogs are also allowed to come and stay at Umberslade Estate, but they must be kept on their best behaviour and under control at all times.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Beautiful countryside surroundings. The ablution block was really clean and well maintained.
The converted farm buildings were really beautiful and made for a very pretty setting. The staff were friendly

Disliked: Google maps took us to the incorrect entrance. As this was our first self drive in a foreign country, it was a little bit stressful. But we did find the right place. We found the food to be a bit expensive for what it was, but again, that is a foreigners point of view and it may be comparable to the region.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: We had a great stay here. We used this site as a tester for our new campervan so we loaded up all four of us and made our way to this lovely site. My kids loved it as there were horses nearby, some sheep and lambs for them to see. The park on site was great for them. The facilities on site were great, well kept and very clean with an outdoor washing area.

We only stayed one night but would definitely stay here again.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: My company were exhibiting at The Security Event NEC. Didn’t want to pay the extortionate hotel rates so rolled up in my camper van for a couple of nights. Outstanding views on a fabulous country estate. Huge clean camping field mostly level. Will stay again.

Disliked: Nothing.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Lovely field, good toilet facilities, sparsely populated. I also liked it not being very heavily managed, but can see how some would dislike that. Nobody to hassle you, but also nobody around to help you either. The horse in the next field was up for headpats so that was good too.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Pleasant short walk to Tanworth in Arden (visiting the home and grave of singer / songwriter Nick Drake).
Lovely site with no hassle (very quiet).
Superb shower / toilet block.
Animals for kids (will bring grandchildren soon).
Cool Pizza place onsite.
Nice helpful staff.

Disliked: Approach road from the east was a rough, rocky hill. However looks like it is being re-surfaced so will be great later this year (approach from the West, Tanworth end)

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: It is a really well looked after site. Facilities were clean and easy to find and use. The onsite cafe/restaurant served great coffee and tasty food. I only stayed for 1 night so didn’t have much time to explore the wider site/area. Looked like it would be great for young kids. Staff were great and helpful.

Disliked: The proximity to the M42 and Airport means you get a lot of traffic, plane and construction noise during the evening/early morning……. So take good quality ear plugs (I forgot mine!)

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked: Beautiful estate. Loads of space. Cafe and pizza barn both great. Kids enjoyed the play area, seeing the animals and exploring the grounds

Disliked: Only a couple of really minor points for improvement (we'll definitely return).
The toilet block is clean and modern, but more geared up for day visitors than campers. No hooks for towels or shelves for toiletries etc.
The hot water at the washing up area wasn't very hot, so not ideal for greasey frying pans etc.
All in all very happy though and looking forward to returning (hopefully on a drier weekend!).

Local attractions

Feeling the spirit of the outdoors? Then, you have several options for outdoorsy days out. Umberslade Adventure (10 minutes' drive) is a family-friendly place with archery, zipwires, tree climbing and low ropes courses. The Bear Grylls Adventure (25 minutes) is a little more challenging, of course, and has high ropes, a shark dive, escape rooms and an assault course designed for marines. While rowing boats will keep up some of the action in Stratford-upon-Avon (25 minutes), a more peaceful time might involve exploring Shakespeare’s Birthplace or catching a show at one of the three Shakespeare-inspired theatres. Cadbury World (30 minutes) in Birmingham will bring chocolate making into the mix. However, if it’s science you’re interested in, Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum (40 minutes) might be your first stop. There’s the West Midland Safari Park (45 minutes) too, for those who want to see some wildlife up close. When you fancy a visit to a historical place, Packwood House (15 minutes) is a local Tudor manor house and Warwick Castle (25 minutes) has years of history and a knight’s village and turrets among other historic features.
