  • Family-run site with on-site fishing and a café
  • Steps from the Shropshire Union Canal
  • Adults-only and dog-friendly; canalside for dog walks
If you had thoughts on an ideal setting for a hol between England and Wales, Hadley Park might well be it. It's in the Shropshire countryside on the border with Wales, next to the Shropshire Union Canal, and a handsomely scenic walk from Whitchurch, Shropshire's oldest market town. Hadley Park is a family-owned and run site that's set up for adults only. It has a small pond where guests can fish – for a fee; a big sundeck overlooking the pond, and a fully licensed on-site café serving fresh local produce. You can also have your hair smartened up in the Hadley Park salon: just enquire when booking using the details in your booking confirmation email. Amenities include a launderette and a washing-up area; there's also a chemical disposal point, and a modern well-kept toilet and shower block with disabled facilities. The park is adults-only and welcomes well-behaved dogs. A service station with fast food and coffee outlet is 400 yards away.

What customers say

This adults-only site gets kudos for spotless, modern facilities, including pristine restrooms. Visitors love the peaceful vibe, canal-side location for Whitchurch walks, and lovely fishing lake. The cafe is a hit for its food. Most pitches are well-kept, though some reviews mention road noise and suggest minor pitch/bin upgrades.

The Kestrel camping pod

Liked Third time visiting this site, and it was another great stay @ Hadley Park.

Although a busy bank holiday weekend it was a mostly peaceful stay, with pleasant neighbours. The washrooms remained clean and well respected by all.

A consistently pleasant atmosphere.

The sheep visiting the neighbouring field made for a nice backdrop.

The Kite camping pod

Liked Greta little facility - we checked in really late so they just gave us instructions over the phone which were super easy to follow. The little cabin was perfect, we were just stopping overnight on route to the lake district so didn't make the most of the site but the facilities were great, the cafe an excellent stop in the morning and the cabin very cute and comfy, much better than putting up a tent in the dark - over all ideal for our needs and will return for future stopovers!

Disliked nothing!

The Kestrel camping pod

Liked Lovely owners and staff. Very friendly and they were around and always willing to chat.
The site was immaculate. The grass was kept short and strimmed.
The toilets/shower blocks and the pot wash area were super clean. Could not be faulted.
The Kestrel camping pod was brilliant. Loads of room. 2 single beds, a table and a couple of chairs. A nice rug on the floor so no cold feet !
My dog loved it.
Good `structure` to cook on outside. Ideal to make a cuppa or cook a meal.
It`s a 30 minute walk down the canal and through Whitchurch Waterways Country Park into Whitchurch. Ideal for exercising the mutt. Some really lovely scenery.
Plenty of Geocaches along the canal.
Whitchurch is a nice old town and has some great pubs (all of which were dog friendly)
If you want a woodland walk it takes about 30 minutes to get to Dansons Woods. Not a massive wood but good to let the dog have a wander and an explore.
The cafe was excellent. Really nice atmosphere and cheery, friendly staff. Good value for money and cracking food.
I loved relaxing with a couple of beers on the decking overlooking the pool
I will be back.

Disliked The road noise - although to be fair you soon zoned it out.
It didn`t stop my enjoyment of this cracking site

Local attractions

Staying close to home from Hadley Park, the old Shropshire town of Whitchurch is less than a mile away, and the walks of the Sandstone Trail as well as the hacks of the Bishop Bennet Way are easily accessible via the Shropshire and Union Canal on site. Elsewhere, several famed Shropshire and Cheshire sights are within 20 miles of the park, like Chester Cathedral and the city's Roman ruins and amphitheatre; Chester Zoo and Chester Racecourse; the fab follies of Hawkestone Park, and the llamas, alpacas and 50 acres of greenery of Cholmondeley Castle Gardens. Nearby Shrewsbury is famed for its annual flower show and for its Darwin Trail commemorating the life and work of evolution dude Charles Darwin who was born in the town. More modernly, a good range of plays are held at the new Severn Theatre and several riverside pubs and restaurants are around at which to while the night away. The bars, cafés and independent shops of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Llangollen are within driving distance: other top town picks are a picnic in Riverside Park, a stroll along Victoria Promenade, and a steam straight ahead on the Llangollen Railway.
