  • Award-winning adult-only park a mile and a half from Shrewsbury
  • Excellent facilities including pool, steam room and restaurant
  • Fishing available at well-stocked site pools
What a splendidly scenic – and sited – place is Beaconsfield Holiday Park. It's near the village of Hadnall and less than two miles from ye olde market town of Shrewsbury, set in viewsome Shropshire countryside with spectacular scenery all around, and in an area full of Shropshire sightseeing, walking and cycling. The top-notch facilities at this award-winning park include its licensed Croft Restaurant, a pool and a steam room. Fishing is also available on site from well-stocked pools, or you could rent a bike from the Beaconsfield team: the Shropshire Way passes through the park and many quiet Shropshire country lanes are around for peaceful pedals. And if seeing/hearing small people doesn't usually shine on your list of holiday essentials? You might be chuffed to know that Beaconsfield is firmly adults only, accepting guests aged 21 and up.

16-amp FHU gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: Hard standing, reasonably level serviced pitches set in well maintained grounds.

Picturesque fishing lake and additional fish pond up near the shower block.

Clean and functional shower block, slightly dated.

There's a swimming pool on site which looks decent through the window, which is open to the public but not included in the price of your pitch.

Be prepared to part with an extra £5 in order to get a key for the shower block (which they refund when you leave and hand the key back).

Disliked: Not too much bother, but strict rules prevent hab doors facing each other, even if the party are fellow travellers.

Disliked: Push button shower had to press it every 6 seconds also not very hot at times

16-amp FHU gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: We had a nice pitch which was fully serviced 16amp with a view of the pond

Disliked: We were given a bit of an unfriendly (abrupt) leaflet with rules of the park & map. Rules are all fully understandable but there are nicer way of wording it which would be more welcoming
The cost per dog is a bit steep considering the lack of facilities compared to the site we had just left.
The shower block is very dated and of poor repair. We were sent to a local petrol station to get £5 cash for the key to the toilets which I did but it wasn’t required as the door was left on the latch the whole tiime we were there
I can imagine it’s a lovely site in the summer as it has the swimming pool and restaurant.

16-amp FHU gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: Access to the site is easy, and its adults only, with well spaced, level pitches, some adjacent to the the fishing pool.
Staff were friendly and helpful
Site also has seasonal pitches available as well a large number of static caravans.
Very quiet with good clean toilets and showers.
Conveniently close to Battlefield farm shop and museum and historic Shrewsbury, but far enough away from major routes to not be affected by traffic noise.
Indoor swimming pool available.
Great if you are an angler with our pitch being about 3m from the waters edge where a good stock of carp was evident.

Disliked: Keypad for gate access was positioned such that it can't be reached without leaving the car....unless you have arms like an Orangutan!
No site shop for basic needs.
No WiFi

Liked: The site was excellent with excellent facilities. As always the staff were polite and helpful. Also having the nearby Croft bar and restaurant was a great asset so I would fully recommend the site to everyone.

Disliked: The long driveway from the road could do with widening slightly.

16-amp FHU gravel and cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: Lovely pretty site! Staff very friendly too. Checked in and then could pick our pitch. Average size pitch which backed onto the fishing pool, very picturesque! Went for a swim in the pool too, cost £5 ( cash only) also needed £5 cash for the toilet key so bring some cash if you wish to use these facilities. The amenities are also lovely and clean.

Disliked: The only thing was the entrance, the road was only just wide enough for one caravan and was a little bendy, this meant unfortunately the caravan went onto the soft verges, it seemed this has happened to a lot of visitors as there was quite deep muddy churned up areas. Was a little worried in case another driver came the other way as I don’t think we could pass each other. This would not affect us visiting again however… just a heads up!

Local attractions

Beaconsfield Holiday Park is handily placed for topping attractions in Shrewsbury and Shropshire – and if you'd rather leave your wheels behind, Harlescott and Oxon park and ride is a mile and a half down the road. A cinema, ten-pin bowling, golf course and driving range are all close by, along with the National Trust's Attingham Park and the remains and exhibits of Wroxeter Roman Vineyard, both within easy driving distance. Splendidly old Shrewsbury and its medieval streets, 660 or so listed buildings, nine bridges and four shopping centres is also a quick trip away; ask the Beaconsfield team if any of the city's famed festivals are running when you're around. About half an hour from Shrewsbury, heritage hunters can be steelily determined to have a good time at the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, the UNESCO World Heritage Site covering the history and people of Britain's Industrial Revolution.
