Blaze Inn Saddles has no frills and certainly fits the bill for a simple stay with the lazy landscapes of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just two miles away. This is a temporary pop-up site suited to a short stay (probably of a night or so) with tents-only pitches in a field, half an hour away from The National Trust’s Hidcote and Stratford-upon-Avon. Here, there’s a pub just up the hill (you’ll want to check the opening times in advance). As well as some tasty food and drinks to wet your palate, there’s a large beer garden with lush greenery, plenty of picnic benches and a sheltered bar area. There aren’t any shower facilities on site, so you’ll only have access to a portable toilet to cover the very basics. It’s an adults-only site with dogs allowed, so you may bring along your pet too. You won’t have far to look if you’re suddenly craving a snack or you find you’re missing something from your things, as there’s a small shop 10 minutes’ stroll away from the site. For a bigger town, Banbury is 15 minutes’ drive away – this historic market town is on the river Cherwell with a museum and gallery, country park and Broughton Castle on the way.
