Firepits available for hire

  • Cosy family-run and dog-friendly site in the Cotswolds
  • A 15-minute drive from Blenheim Palace; 25 minutes to Stow-on-the-Wold
  • Barbecues and firepits allowed; access to footpaths and bridleways
After a cosy spot somewhere in the Cotswolds? Historic houses, museums and market towns are out in full force around the cosy Cotswolds Camping in its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty six miles from Chipping Norton… to be exact, this family-run site is 15 minutes' drive away from Blenheim Palace and within striking distance of many characteristic Cotswolds trails. At the same time, Oxfordshire is the other way and Oxford itself is just 15 minutes’ train journey away from Charlbury Station (five minutes’ drive). As for those of you with a soft spot for a hardcore shopping trip, you won’t be left in the lurch here, as Bicester Village has a shopping outlet 35 minutes’ drive away and Stratford-upon-Avon is 45 minutes’ drive away for handsome riverside scenes and independent shops. Now, how about those hiking shoes? Well, the site has access to fancy footpaths, bridleways and woodland walks, so you’ll be able to get right to the rambling. You might want to stop by the local village, Charlbury, on your way around the local area, as there are food shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants here, all within walking distance of the site. And don’t worry, you’ll be able to carry the good time onto the site, as barbecues and firepits are both permitted – the same for dogs. As for the facilities you’ll have on hand, these include a play area, shower, toilets and a dishwashing area to help you deal with any dirty pots and pans.

What customers say

This well-kept, friendly campsite in the beautiful Cotswolds is popular with families & dog owners. Guests love the clean facilities, spacious pitches & cafe. The woodland playground is a hit! Some noted busy periods caused lines & noise. A few mentioned occasional TP shortages & weak shower hot water. Highly recommended!

Stable Barn shepherd's hut

Liked Shepherds hut was very spacious, lots of space on the pitch around us. Very clean shower and toilet facilities. Cafe was nice although only served baps rather than actual breakfast. Good location for local attractions.

Disliked Park wasn't very good, could do with some proper equipment. Toilets and shower nearest to us weren't open for the duration of our stay which was annoying, as although it wasn't a long walk to the other ones, it's not ideal when children need the toilet in the night. No WiFi.

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked First visit and would definitely book again!
Perfect location for visiting Cotswolds. Great pitches with even ground, plenty of space and not over crowded.
Excellent facilities including electric hook up, drinking water, children's play area, clean showers/toilets, washing up areas, washing machines, fridges, shop, and cafe.
Fire pits allowed - many in Cotswolds area don't!
Keith was very welcoming and friendly when we arrived and gave us some great recommendations for local places to visit.
Highly recommend Bourton-On-The-Water .
Dan was a legend and very helpful throughout our stay.
Highly recommended!

Disliked Nothing to dislike but would recommend general waste bins and dog poop bins on bottom field as well as near entrance.

From the manager: Thanks for your review Kevin

Unfortunately we used to have bins across the whole site but they would be completely unmanageable, people would put hot ashes in them, camping equipment including tents , chairs and the likes. The same with the dog poo bins , they would get filled up with rubbish.

So unfortunately we had to limit the bins to the front of the campsite where we could manage what goes in them and try to push more responsible recycling.

Local attractions

Trail time? You might want to begin with the Roman Fosse Way, passing by the towns of Stow-on-the-Wold (25 minutes' drive) and Moreton-in-Marsh (25 minutes). Or from Lechlade-on-Thames (half an hour), perhaps you'll roll right on to the Thames Path, if you’re not drawn into the water with watersports such as canoeing. Characterful towns and villages are a Cotswolds staple and it shows… Burford (15 minutes) is boxed full of unusual shops, pubs and tea rooms, while in Witney (20 minutes), you’ve got classic entertainment courtesy of a multi-screen cinema, shops and leisure centre mixed in with markets and the historic Cogges Manor Farm. In Woodstock (15 minutes) there’s more history inside The Oxfordshire Museum. Like Chipping Norton (10 minutes), the place has a swimming pool, shops, pubs and tea rooms galore, to add to Chipping Norton’s theatre and cinema. Historic are many of the houses around here, and that includes the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blenheim Palace (15 minutes), the Jacobean Chastleton House (20 minutes) and or the 18th-century Buscot Park (35 minutes). For more activities in the throw of it all, there’s Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens (25 minutes) and Bourton-on-the-Water’s equestrian centre, brewery and motoring museum (half an hour).
