  • Family-run dog-friendly farm site in Cropredy village
  • A 20-minute drive to British Motor Museum; 40 mins to Blenheim Palace
  • Wood-fired pizzas on busy weekends; a short walk to pubs and cafés
Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of navigating little country lanes? Set off to Oxfordshire and The Old Dairy Farm Caravan and Camping: getting here involves a mere 10-minute detour from the M40 at Banbury. That location makes this a most handy spot for motorway stopovers, but there’s plenty around to please those who choose to stay longer too. However long you stay at this family-run farm, you’ll not want to miss out on meeting the pygmy goats and free-range chickens and peering into the aviary; once the kids have done that, send them off for a proper run about on the large recreational field to tire them out before bedtime. Handy too are the smart and well-maintained facilities, including a toilet block, showers, a washing-up area, water supply and Elsan point. The wood-fired pizza oven gets going on busy weekends (and it’s also available for private hire if you’re having a gathering). Don’t worry if there’s no pizza action while you’re here: it’ll take just a few minutes to walk to Cropredy’s pubs, cafés and shop (or its play park). It’s also possible to walk to the Oxford Canal and River Cherwell for waterside wanders, and a short drive will get you out into the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for more walks, plus golf courses, fishing lakes and National Trust estates. In the main this is a peaceful site, but it's worth noting that a rail line passes fairly close by so you may hear a bit of noise from the pitches (or even spot trains – much to the delight of young rail enthusiasts).

10-amp powered grass campsite

Liked Sunday evening when all the big groups had gone home. Litter picking up, even though was cleared away by the groups. Not a site for couples travelling on their own. Lovely village location with 2 nice pubs & nice canal walk. Liked the goats & the aviary.

Disliked Large open field & large groups of people , only used as a stop over, would not have liked to have been there on the Saturday night, I think it would have been very loud.

6-amp powered grass campsite

Liked Campsite was really well equipped, good food and bar and bouncy castles

Disliked Clientele were chavvy to be honest, a lot of irresponsible parents letting their kids squirt water guns at everyone and doing very little... My daughter got sneaked upon and squirted by a chavvy little scroaty kid with an East Mids accent as the parents were likely supping warm Stella in the huts, there was one parent telling their kid to stop... he didn't... she continued to say stop... he didn't then he squirted a young girl in the face which caused her to scream and cry and eventually the parent decided to pull the gun from him... if you say 'stop' and they don't then take it off them otherwise it is just an empty threat.

The Chav kids then woke up at 6:30am shouting at the top of their lungs... shame as staff and site very nice.

From the manager: Don’t really know what to say to this review? Firstly as a site we do not judge anyone on their accent and all are welcome. Secondly this weekend was a heat wave, and the kids all had the most amount of fun playing and having water fights. Should any kids targeted unarmed targets they would have been reminded about the rules of warfare and if they continued they would have been banned from the play area.

I’m sure the laughter and fun was very upsetting and we apologise if this is not the site for you.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Great pizzas and cheap ice lollies!

Disliked Not enough bins available around the site which led to a lot of litter, especially around the playground area

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Bins are at the main entrance as the signs stated that you couldn’t be bothered to read - a fire bin to anyone with logic would realise is dangerous to fill with rubbish. No one wants to camp next to bins and our site really isn’t that big. In future please don’t fly tip our site, and follow the information given at your check in.

16-amp powered grass campsite

Liked The shop was well stocked and a great variety of cooked food served although very pricey,

Disliked The general layout being very random and pitches not controlled, water sources without drains with 1m of electrical hooks. Toilet disposal (elsan) right next to kids play area with no hygiene consideration especially in hot weather kids were using hose pipe to fill water guns.

Trains going past on main line next to xampsite

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Drains are below the tap. Layout random - you mean we’re not regimental and allow campers to pitch in their plot in a way that suits their set up. Your pitch is 10 x 15m which we believe to be ample enough.

Local attractions

Coming to the Cotswolds for a bit of fresh air and gentle activity? Set forth for fishing at Clattercote Reservoir, or tee off at Cherwell Edge Golf Course; both are about 10 minutes away by car. Country walking routes are plentiful too, of course, as are fine buildings to mooch around. Blenheim Palace (40 minutes’ drive) is perhaps the best known of all the Oxfordshire stately homes (and with good reason, for ’tis fab) but it’s worth taking a look at some others too, including Farnborough Hall (10 minutes), Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) and Upton House and Gardens (20 minutes). For a break from the classic Cotswolds activities, head out to meet the big birds of Fir Tree Falconry (15 minutes) or sigh over all the shiny machines at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes). And if you’re in need of a tipple or two to accompany your barbecue back at base, there are some excellent local ones to be acquired at Hook Norton Brewery (25 minutes) and the Cotswolds Distillery (half an hour).
