  • Laidback off-grid Northamptonshire site 10 mins' drive from Daventry
  • Silverstone and Althorp Estate both 20 minutes' drive
  • Easy access from the M1; canal and woodland walks close by
Craving that feeling of being in the middle nowhere, but also kind of keen to be close to local amenities? The answer lies at AllThings Camping, a quiet place that’s tucked away in the Northamptonshire countryside but well placed for lots of handy infrastructure. This off-grid campsite is a nicely laidback place where you'll be staying in a peaceful seven-acre field with simple facilities including a shower and a couple of compost toilets. There’s also a shared mess tent with some basic kitchen kit (including a kettle and some tea and coffee supplies) and seating for those times when you need somewhere weatherproof to relax. Coffee and cakes are available on site during school holidays and the big Silverstone weekend. The vibe here is super chilled, with kids and dogs welcome, plenty of space to relax and a low level of light pollution often leading to some good stargazing. Nearby, you'll be able to walk in the woods or along the canal (five minutes' drive away). Shops, cafés, boat rentals and river swimming spots are also a few minutes' drive away, and there's a Roman fort about a mile away. So far, so rural… but in fact there are plenty of useful facilities nearby, either in the nearby village of Nether Heyford (five minutes' drive) or in bigger towns like Daventry (10 minutes) and Northampton (20 minutes). This site is also very handy for the M1, as it's only about 10 minutes' drive from Junction 15.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Great campsite location for our trip. The toilets and shower were clean and comfortable to use. Bins provided for rubbish. The campsite owner was friendly and welcoming. The covered area with chairs and a gas stove was lovely.

Disliked Nothing.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite

Liked Big open field with long grasses in central area and informal pitch sites around edge. Very relaxed atmosphere and extensive views from hilltop site. Libby is lovely and working hard to make it a good stay but eco-friendly.

Disliked Not sure about composting toilets. Never used them as had ours in campervan.

Liked Very relaxed atmosphere. Libby was the perfect host, making time to welcome everyone. All the facilities were exactly as described so there were no unwelcome surprises. Plenty of space and lovely and peaceful. Ideal site to meet up with friends or family reunion. Very safe for children with plenty of space to play. We hope to be back before too long.
