  • Family-friendly Lincolnshire caravan park at Chapel St Leonards
  • Ingoldmells Beach 15 minutes’ walk; Fantasy Island 10 minutes’ drive
  • Fishing lake and well-stocked tackle shop; pubs 10 minutes’ drive
Tucked into the seaside village of Chapel St Leonards, 15 minutes’ drive from Skegness on the Lincolnshire coast, Lakeland Caravan Park is a family-run and family-friendly caravan park that's somewhat removed from the busy main east-coast seaside resorts. Being a popular place, this site still gets busy during the school holidays, so if you’re after a quieter sojourn it's best to book for spring or autumn. But whichever month you choose for your break, you'll be staying on a well-drained pitch with electric hook-up, and you can use toilets, showers and washing-up facilities in the brick facilities block, which has disabled access. Dogs are welcome and can be walked on Ingoldmells Beach (15 minutes’ stroll). Having the beach nearby is excellent of course, and another one of the big draws at this site is the fishing – there's a lake within the grounds where anglers can cast out their lines daily, and weekly matches are open to all caravan site guests. There’s a very well-stocked tackle shop selling fresh bait and everything from budget rod-and-reel deals to get novices started to fishing gear from top brands. Sea fishing is also available from Ingoldmells Beach. Anything else you might need? There are shops, lots of pubs, amusement arcades and night-time entertainment all within 10 minutes’ drive of the pitches.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The guy measures your pitches so you’re not crammed in. The grass was maintained well. The tents were seperate from caravans by quite a distance. Good location very close to the beach and shops/arcades etc

Disliked The toilet and shower block was on the caravan side which meant quite a walk which isn’t ideal when you have children. Also needed a fob for these. We had two tents in our party so we had 2 fobs. Paid £20 for them both and one went missing while in the toilets. So we lost £10 for not returning it. Fobs are very small they need a keyring or something on them so they don’t get misplaced (similar to what pubs do with toilet keys). Was unable to have a camp fire which we didn’t realise on booking. Also our tent was under a bright street light which meant it was lit up all night. Phone signal isn’t great there either.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Really great location- So close to the beach and the arcades on the seafront.
Friendly staff.
Cleaner onsite several times a day.
Very flexible for pitching tents in a large group- only downside was that we couldn't be near to the motorhome that was in our party.
Gates and fobs for security. Felt very safe and family friendly.

Disliked Tent pitches were ridiculously far away from the toilets.
Only 2 showers in male and female shower blocks and you had to hold down the button continuously to keep the water going.

From the manager: So sorry you did not enjoy your stay and we were not for you. Our access road is right next to the beach so it does get a bit of sand on it. The toilet block is cleaned 3 times a day and our cleaner work hard to keep them clean. We empty the rubbish everyday and are cleaning up all the time sorry you did not see us. If you would have told us about the dog barking I would have had a word with the guest. As I would if they did not clean up their dog mess. The bin areas are near the loos but as I said we empty them every day so do think they smell. We are a family run site we are here from 8am to late. Plus their is a number to ring in emergency and we do not lock people in at night. We invest in the site each year and improve the facilities
So sorry you will not be coming back as we do work hard to keep people happy and what people to have a nice time.

Good location but very dirty facilities and untidy site.

Powered grass RV campsite

Liked Good location near the beach

Disliked Toilets were very dirty and had grime on the tiles that had been there a while. Couldn’t have a shower due to this. Dogs continually barking all day tied up outside the caravans and their owners didn’t care. Bins no lids outside the toilet block all overflowing. Only two toilets working working the day we were there in the men’s. Some of the pitches like a building site. I really wanted to like this site but it needed a big clean up.

Local attractions

Fan of bright lights and big amusements? The famed Fantasy Island theme park (10 minutes’ drive) in Skegness opens up stalls and rides when summertime hits. There’s more action over at Skegness Pier (20 minutes), including bowling and laser tag games. If you’re keener to avoid crowds and unwind on quiet sands, Sutton on Sea (20 minutes) should do the trick with its long sandy beach. Another secluded bay is Huttoft beach (15 minutes), a quiet stretch where many folk like to go surfing, swimming and fishing. Inland, take your hiking boots off to the trails of the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape (20 minutes). For some wildlife watching, there are a couple of really nice spots within a short drive of the park. The first is Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve (25 minutes), a seasonal habitat for waders, wildfowl and birds of prey set back along the coast. The other is Natureland Seal Sanctuary (20 minutes), a centre that rescues seal pups. Other adorable residents include alpacas, penguins, reptiles and colourful butterflies, so there should be plenty to feast your eyes on.
