Kingfisher Lookout shepherd's hut (lake view, hot tub, no pets)
Liked: The site was beautifully maintained, Tracy & Neil take a lot of care to ensure it looks great and, being an adult only site, it's extremely peaceful. We booked Kingfisher Lookout, which was wonderful. We've never understood the fascination with hot tubs, but we totally get it now....relaxing in the hot tub looking out across the lake was the perfect end to our day. The fishing was great too, my husband caught some big fish, so he was happy. We loved the cheeky chickens who visited us every day and, best of all, we were lucky enough to see the family of Kingfishers as they zoomed in and out of the trees. All in all, we had a fantastic time and will definitely visit again.

Squirrel Hideaway shepherd's hut (pet friendly)
Liked: Every inch of this place has been very well kept, and very clean. They have a herb patch where you can use different herbs they have grown which I thought was a nice touch.i also like the location too.
Disliked: Where do I start..this was my second visit here. Tracey showed us where we were staying and gave us a list of do and don't and straight away moaned about are dog lead and said she actually band the extendable leads,This was never mentioned in the emails or the list she gave us..there very strict of keeping noise to a minimum I felt like I was going to get in trouble for laughing after 9 or having to much fun! They lock the gate at 10 so you can't get back to where your staying with your car as they say it will disturb people. So you have to leave your car and tip toe back to your accommodation..so what happens if my car alarm went off..surely this would be worse as this would wake people up and i wouldn't hear it go off! Last day waiting outside for us to leave and came and did a inspection as cleaner was waiting to come in. I left the fold out bed out so the cleaner could clean it. And she told me off saying I left it messy..even though when we got there we found dirty underwear in the wardrobe.then went mad about having candles outside said there a fire hazard again this was never mentioned or is it on the list she gave us..but they have a fire pit you can use and my candles where right by it ,so abit confusing..I felt like I was being told off by my mum and it left a horrible feeling as we left..shame really.. if you want a place where you go to bed at 9 and make no noise then this is the place for you.. fishing was good really enjoyed that. but the rules are just insane and having a go at people when you haven't mentioned it or it's not on the list of rules is a joke and you end up ruining people breaks.

From the manager: Hello Caroline,
Thank you for the review.
As a returning customer & having stayed in Squirrel Hideaway in 2023, you were aware of the rules in place and they have not changed since your first visit.
Every guest is personally shown in & handed a welcome sheet on arrival.
The entrance gate is never locked. At 10pm the barrier system positioned after the gate, will not operate between 10pm & 7am so guests are not disturbed. This information can all be found on our website prior to making a booking.
Check out is strictly by 10am.
Turn around for the pod is very tight. As my cleaner (whom I pay for from 10am) was sat outside waiting for you to vacate, I entered the pod at 10.15am as you were still there. I was taken back as I’ve never seen the pod looking so messy. You mentioned “SOCKS” had been found which I apologised profusely for, as that should not of happened. There was no mention of underwear?
We work hard to provide excellent accommodation & facilities & we welcome guests that can respect them.
Kind regards,
Tracy
Give it a go, you'll love it
