  • Peaceful adults-only site on a small working farm in Lincolnshire
  • Walker’s paradise: loads of quiet country lanes and bridle paths
  • Half an hour’s drive from the city of Lincoln
Need an escape from that fast-paced modern life? Get back to nature at Dean House Campsite, a stripped-back adults-only site at the rear of a small farm half an hour's drive from the city of Lincoln. A top spot for exploring Lincolnshire at a slow pace, there are loads of quiet country lanes and bridle paths in the area around Dean House. You can also follow a nearby bridle path directly into Chambers Farm Wood – part of the Lincolnshire Limewoods and a haven for budding stargazers – to explore the waymarked trails or the night sky. If you prefer to explore in the saddle, the scenic village of Woodhall Spa is 35 minutes’ cycle from Dean House and the towns of Wragby and Horncastle are both half an hour away. Back on site, unwind further by soaking up the peaceful, quiet atmosphere, looking out over the fields. When your stomach starts protesting, get a barbecue going – you can pick up supplies from one of the supermarkets within 10 minutes’ drive – then serve meals up with your feet warming by the campfire. Fancy a break from cooking? There are plenty of restaurants within 20 minutes’ drive of Dean House.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: What a find! A lovely quiet campsite set well away from the noisy Lincolnshire roads, yet only half an hour into Lincoln City centre.
Nice large pitches in a field on the owners smallholding. Excellent bathroom facilities and spotlessly clean, plenty of hot water and a large washing up sink.

Sue and Fred are very lovely hosts, chatty but not intrusive, the animals are also lovely!

Excellent cycling from the door, especially if you like gravel riding. Only a few km from the Water Rail trail and from the endless bridleways on the Wolds.

Fantastic stay!

Disliked: Nothing at all

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: A gem of a find perfect location to get out and about in the area for walking, cycling or by car to nearby villages and the coast.
An ideal setting to get away from it all. If you want peace and quiet this is the place. An occasional chicken may wander nearby but they were more inquisitive and definitely no problem.
Facilities were spot on and very clean. Plenty of hot water for showers and washing pots.
It felt like home away from home ……although I don’t live in a tent in a field at home;))
Sue and Fred friendly welcoming hosts thankyou for a great stay 🐑🐓🐴🧲👍👍👍
Would I return…….. Yes I would.

Liked: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dean House Campsite. It is the perfect place to recharge your batteries in a peaceful and tranquil setting. We liked that thr fact that it is a basic, small site where you can get back to nature. The shower and toilet facilities are clean and convenient. Local attractions

There’s nothing more sedate than a trip to one of England’s stately homes, where you can easily imagine a life of utter leisure – Doddington Hall, Tattershall Castle, Belton House and Grantham House are all within an hour’s drive of Dean House, and you can take a stroll around the spectacular Petwood Gardens, 15 minutes away, to be at one with nature. The city of Lincoln is 30 minutes from the site, and a must-visit for oodles of history. If you only have a limited amount of time, make your way to the stunning Lincoln Cathedral, follow the Roman Trail or visit the Medieval Bishop’s Palace – and don’t forget to explore the vineyard in the palace gardens. If that’s only whetted your appetite, there’s plenty more to keep you busy too, from museums and galleries to shops and restaurants. Aviation and motoring buffs can get their fill of planes, trains and automobiles with stops at Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Centre, the Bubblecar Museum, Lincolnshire Aviation and Lincolnshire Wolds Railway, all within half an hour of Deans House. Stressing about going back to work? Finish off your holiday with a trip to the Workhouse in Southwell, an hour away, where suddenly you won’t feel so bad about returning to your annoying colleagues, small cubicle and crammed inbox…
