  • Luxurious glamping site with pond views on a Lincolnshire farm
  • RAF Scampton 15 minutes’ drive, Lincoln Cathedral 20 minutes
  • Walks on site and afternoon teas available; village pub next door
With sheep and chickens roaming freely around to give the place a real rural vibe, Ashleigh Farm Caravan and Glamping is a luxurious little site on five peaceful acres 15 minutes' drive from Gainsborough in Lincolnshire. As well as all the farm's residents wandering around, look out for colourful sunsets and the chance to spot the Milky Way on clear nights. Overlooking a pond and open fields, the stylishly decorated accommodation comes with comfy beds and woodburning stoves to keep everyone nice and warm. Bedding is all included, as are welcome packs containing tea, coffee, sugar, hot chocolate, milk, marshmallows and freshly baked goodies. Beyond the individual units, shared facilities include firepits with barbecue grills, and two generous heated bathrooms (suitable for disabled visitors) with double waterfall showers and complimentary toiletries. Nearby is a play area that's been set up with a climbing frame with monkey bars, swings and slides (along with a seating area close by where grownups can keep a beady eye on their offspring while nursing a coffee; parents are asked to make sure their kids are supervised at all times). More treats for your holiday? The site owners run a bakery producing artisan breads, cream cakes and tempting afternoon teas, which are available to order when you arrive. If it's a pint you're after, there's a traditional village pub next door that you can walk to in less than five minutes. Please note that dogs are not allowed at this site, due to the presence of livestock.

Witch Hut camping pod

Liked: Lovely, quiet site. Just 2 witches huts, 2 bell tents and a handful of motorhome sites. Great hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely welcome pack on arrival with freshly baked baguettes. Two spotless toilets with accompanying showers. Small power unit in the witches hut which allowed for lights and charging devices. All complete with in house sheep and chickens :)

Disliked: Not much additional space for bags etc in the hut, but not a big deal.

Witch Hut camping pod

Liked: It would be easier to say what we didn’t like…..as I could leave this box blank.
The witches cabin, surroundings, animals, hosts & other guests were all lovely. The food (especially the afternoon tea) was amazing. 🤩
It was so peaceful. The fresh air & serene grounds really made an amazingly relaxing break. I took my 3 children. (All diagnosed with ADHD & ASD. ) To my joy…they absolutely loved it, even my normally sulky 18 year old. My little boy is normally attached to anything electronic…he wasn’t bothered about his iPad at all for the whole weekend. He loved the sheep, our cabin & toasting marshmallows of an evening.
An absolute pleasure of a get away.
We will definitely return. Highly recommend!

Additionally…I have had afternoon teas all over the country. Including Betty’s in York….I can honestly say, none are a patch on the afternoon teas here! The food was so tasty & fresh, with so much we couldn’t finish it. I brought some of the cakes and sausage rolls home…to my partners delight! Can’t wait to rebook.

Disliked: Leaving.

Witch Hut camping pod

Liked: Everything was perfect! Caroline is the best host, she honestly couldn’t do enough for us. So friendly and helpful the whole weekend. The bell tent was so beautiful, the site is laid out with so much space, shower rooms lovely and clean. Welcome basket with freshly baked cookies and baguettes was such a special touch and the afternoon tea that we booked as extra was absolutely delicious. The pub next door serves amazing food too.

Local attractions

Whether you’re after a potter around local villages (perhaps with a pub involved) or looking for more challenging hikes in the Lincolnshire countryside, there are walking maps available on site to point you in the right direction. Likewise, there are family-friendly circular bike-ride options, or more strenuous workouts on the mountain bike trails at Sherwood Pines (50 minutes’ drive) and Willingham Woods (35 minutes). Fans of World War II history can head straight for the Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight Visitors Centre (an hour) – and for aircraft aficionados, the Red Arrows are based at RAF Scampton (15 minutes). You can watch their training exercises from the car park at the end of the runway, or sit yourself down outside your accommodation and watch them from a distance. Take in views of the historic city of Lincoln (20 minutes) as you walk around the walls of medieval Lincoln Castle, or explore the Gothic interior of the cathedral – built in the 11th century and for many years the largest construction in the country. And while you’re out and about, perhaps you'd like to forage for antique treasures from the indie stores in Hemswell (15 minutes)?
