Primitive grass tent or campervan campsite
Liked: Beautifully kept site surrounded by lovely countryside. Great for walking. The cafe on site is fab and the village pub even better. Got to watch the end of a cricket match in the sun shine on the ground opposite the site.
Disliked: Two issues. Either in isolation not a problem but together were an issue.
1. The showers were not good. Barely any water pressure and not especially warm. Took so long to shower the lights, which were on a sensor, went out.
2. The stay was expensive. £74 for two nights. Happy to pay that if everything about the stay was top notch.

From the manager: Thank you for the positive review of the site & it's keeping and the compliments of our cafe.
Regarding the showers. These are set at a safe heat so as not to scald people, especially children. Sorry they were not hot enough for you - never had anyone mention this before.
For the benefit of readers - The lights are on a sensor timer, to allow time to shower & use the loos. This is because we have had problems in the past with guests leaving lights on, and with the increase in the horrendous electricity bills is a cost we need to monitor in order for us to stay in business. it's a huge challenge.
We like to think our pricing suits what we offer, a small personal campsite with all the lovely extra touches - such as the shower gels, the café offering & campers fridges, we believe £74 for up to four people on a pitch for two nights is reasonable for the quality of surroundings.
Glad to read you will visit again though so let's hope we can welcome you back.

Liked: Small campsite, spacious pitches, nice facilities (toilets & showers), excellent cafe for breakfast.
Disliked: The only thing we we’re disappointed with was they advertised pizzas on site for the weekend, but this weekend (last one in august) they said they weren’t offering them.
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: Thank you for your review. We were sorry to be unable to have offered pizzas, due to the fact that we have to have a fuller campsite to make it worthwhile, as the chef comes in especially to prepare and cook pizzas freshly. We were pleased to read you will visit again, next time we hope to be able to fulfil the pizza request.

Liked: Very clean and very relaxing , we had a bumpy start as our pitch had been taken, but after a call to the owner it was sorted straight away. Loverly little cafe on site, food amazing. Thank you for letting us stay at your wonderful location
Disliked: Having to come home

From the manager: Thank you for your review. The issue at the beginning was sorted quickly, the other guests had taken too much space. We are happy to read you will visit again.

Liked: Facilities and camping space is lovely. We went mid week so cafe not open but site very quiet, only our group there. Friendly staff popped by but self sufficient for check in made very easy with good communication emails. Great location with a short walk to town, local shop that has lots of things available (even coffee and cakes!). Lots of local scenic village walks. Having the space to ourselves meant we could use frisbee/play badminton and really enjoy the space. Our party camped in tents and a motor home but there are Glamping options in safari tents that looks really lovely if you prefer glamping style
Disliked: I imagine when very busy that the demand for showers and toilets is high, only 2 of each in ladies/girls and a mixed men’s/women’s room with one shower, and a boys toilet shower area. These are also shared by the cafe.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review, and for scoring us well in so many categories. I am very pleased that you enjoyed your stay.
As you know, the site is very small and as such, we don't over-fill it. Guests have been appreciated of the extra facilities (two showers and two loos) that were installed in 2022. We never fill the site to its capacity to allow guests to enjoy the middle space for games etc.
As far as capacity to facilities, we are within our requirements - 5 loos, 4 showers & some people, if in facility vans (campers/motorhomes), will utilise their own facilities.
The café opens at 9 and most guests will have showered before our busy time (usually by 10am).
Look forward to seeing you again once day.

Liked: Good shower & toilet block. Lots of cold water taps around site.
Good food & beer at local pub only a 10 minute walk. Village shop has fantastic home baked cakes. Very good area for walking.
Disliked: Too many notices around site, felt profit came before relaxing! No washing up area with warm water & no one on site during the week.

From the manager: Thank you for your review.
We have people who return year after year, and when I met you I sensed you were not very happy, but what a shame you didn't raise your negative comments with me at the time.
For the benefit of the readers. Our site is less busy in the week & we therefore don't open our on site cafe, but we do our daily checks and are on hand (in the village), as necessary & when required.
Dislikes - The notices - many are put up due to regulations. These include fire safety - what to do in case of fire, the safe use of barbeques, the warning of "uneven field surfaces", "caution wet floor" (when cleaning takes place, or if it has rained), "proceed slowly", "children crossing", "dogs on leads" We are obliged to have such notices particularly to ensure the safety of all guests.
We don't have a fixed public washing up area, there are plenty of useful taps around the site which gives guests the opportunity to wash up at their pitch rather than lug heavy pots around and boil a kettle for hot water - as the name suggests, we are a rural site. We have acted on feedback & guests like what we now offer.
We are sorry we have not exceeded this guest's expectations, but have exceeded for many with visitors coming back each year, our last few reviews have scored 10/10 and whilst we take all reviews seriously, sometimes there is little we can do to please.

Gin and Bare It 2 bedroom safari tent
Liked: Rural Relaxing is a lovely, small campsite on the edge of a very pretty village. The safari tent was good value, very spacious with lots of useful items, including a kettle and blankets.
There is a cafe at the weekends that sells great breakfasts and makes pizzas on a Saturday. The staff were friendly and helpful.
We had a great weekend and are planning to return next year.
Disliked: Nothing

Liked: Loved the site, the space, the set up, the facilities and the cafe.
Disliked: We were told our pitch in advance and arrived to find someone on it as they’d been moved to our pitch, but we hadn’t been told where to go instead. It all worked out but it was poorly handled at the time.
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: Regretfully, the guests on another pitch spread out to far which impacted the pitch you were allocated, you called me and we discussed this at the time of your arrival and as there was plenty of space on the site itself, you were happy with the resolution to move up a bit. I was pleased to hear you were happy with your stay and will return one day, we will enjoy welcoming you again and thank you for taking the time to review.
For the benefit of readers:
We rely on guests to pitch themselves without our inspection, and as such, there is a degree of trust for all guests to pitch sensibly, without being greedy on taking too much space. The field is never full to capacity, there is always plenty of other unreserved spaces available (just in case).
Really lovely site in a great location!

Liked: Wonderful location, good clean facilities, we had a really nice pitch. Just an overall really lovely site and we really enjoyed our stay.
Disliked: We weren't big fans of the washing up at the pitch without hot water taps.
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: Thank you for your review.
We are a rural site, clue is in the name and we have never wanted to be a formal site and as such, we offer water taps throughout the site and guests are informed ahead of their arrival (in the instructions), of this. It's camping, we want to remain rural and boiling a kettle for hot water is the option for our guests at their pitch. I believe we did provide you with a couple of bowls of hot water during your stay so I think we helped you with that.
I was pleased however you will visit again.
