  • Family-owned farm site in open countryside with Forest of Dean views
  • Under 10 minutes’ drive from Newnham-on-Severn and 25 to Wye Valley
  • Half a mile from the River Severn and the Severn Way
Big skies, green Gloucestershire countryside and artisan booze: what more could one want on a hol than this trip-boosting trio? If this sounds like just the holiday ticket, seek out Severn Valley Touring Caravan and Camping Site in the village of Awre, less than a five-minute walk from a traditional cider producer and a 10-minute drive to lovely Newnham-on-Severn. The park's also in an easy position to get to, as it's a mile and a half from the A48 Gloucester to Chepstow road and 25 minutes by car from the Wye Valley. Park up, pitch up then sit – cider in hand – to take in the gorgeous views from here (the Forest of Dean and the Malvern Hills are visible on clear days) and watch birds soar through the skies: the site's surrounds are home to creatures like kestrels, buzzards and red kites. Early risers might get a sneak peek of hares around the grounds at dawn too, and barn owls have been spotted in neighbouring fields during dusk in this ancient area once listed in the Domesday book as a royal hunting ground… Whatever the time of day or night, visitors have access to well-designed amenities like a purpose-built toilet and shower block, as well as covered washing-up facilities and a shower room that’s accessible to people with disabilities. Off site, the Severn Way is about half a mile away for roams beside the river. Time your visit right (check timetables online) to get a glimpse of the Severn Bore phenomenon, the surfable waves that roll right through the water at certain times of the year…

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Everything! The owners are really friendly and helpful (our hookup cable wasn't long enough but it was no trouble for us to be lent one for our stay). The site is beautifullly maintained and the facilities are spotless. The site has no lights on at night and is a dark area so the view of the stars is incredible. The pitches are spacious and made private by the hedges separating them. The surrounding nature, both wild and farmed, are a welcome addition to a great site

Liked Everything!
Clean facilities, perfect pitch size, privacy, close to days out and local amenities.
Quiet at night with no loud groups. Joanne was super helpful and there was no urgency to get up and leave in the morning. This is definitely up there in our top 3.

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Pitches are of a good size, and the hedges between them are a good idea for breaking up the wind and extra privacy. The facilities were excellent and the overall size of the site was just right (not too big) Also liked having a key for late night returns to the site. Bought a bottle of their apple juice, which was lovely. Well sited close to the river Severn and a great cider producer is just around the corner.

Disliked But of a shame you couldn't pick any of the apples from their many trees, perhaps a few scattered among the pitches would be nice.

Liked Exceptional site, lovely and quiet at all times. Pitches are very spacious and nicely separated with hedges. Toilet, shower and washing facilities were spotless for our entire stay nice hot showers. The sheep and Rufus the Alpaca were great to watch. Also enjoyed the table tennis throughout. Perfect location not too far from the forest, estuary and other attractions in the area. Tesco and Lidl 15 minutes down the road in Lydney. cannot fault this site Joanne was amazing and helped with anything we needed.

Liked Beautiful village location, immaculately maintained. The toilet/shower facilities were cleaned every day to a very high standard. We loved that each pitch had their own little hedge line. It felt like having our own little garden. Although we did share ours with our family.

Disliked Nothing. It was a perfect little pitch.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Spotlessly clean campsite , with great shower and toilet block , good size pitches which are quite private ,separated with hedges, nice & level too (we we're in pitch 3)
Pretty little village with a church & community hall . The cider place had some function going on while we were there so we didn't get to see that but this campsite is a good base & run by lovely people
