Spacious grass pitches

  • Spacious dog-friendly Cotswolds site in the Slad Valley
  • Stroud and Painswick 10 minutes' drive; half an hour to Cheltenham
  • Large pitches with good access to footpaths and pubs nearby
Coming along to the Cotswolds in search of comfort and convenience as well as gorgeous countryside views? Check out Cherry Tree Glamping as an option – this spacious and welcoming Gloucestershire park is in a peaceful spot surrounded by gorgeous views, but it’s also handily only about 10 minutes’ drive from both Painswick and Stroud. All of this comes together to make an excellent location for a relaxing break – you’ll easily be able to get out for walks on the Cotswold Way or other local footpaths (some of which lead to traditional cosy pubs), and it’s equally straightforward to get into one of the nearby towns to browse the shops and market or find a place to eat. Attractions such as the Painswick Rococo Garden and Woodchester Mansion are within easy reach too, as are the centres of Cheltenham and Gloucester. Back on site, you’ll be staying on a nicely sized pitch with plenty of space for all your gear, and a pretty backdrop of trees all around. Facilities include drinking water stations, picnic tables, a washing-up area and smart modern bathroom facilities including clean toilets and showers. Dogs are welcome here, and you’ll also be allowed to bring along a barbecue for your alfresco cooking if you like.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Level pitches and all clean . The added bonus was that it was next to a forest walk that the dogs loved. All signage was clear and easy to understand. Spacious pitches , reminded me of the French campsites well kept and spotless.

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: Self serve checkin. Little hedges around pitches are cute. Toilets clean.

Disliked: By a road and seemed a little crowded. Also seemed to be some confusion on some of the pitches as numbering not completely clear (didn't affect us). No shops locally and the pub 30mins walk away was bad for food.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Big flat pitches, great location with lots of good walks close by.

Disliked: Poor facilities only two toilets and one shower in each male/female for over 20 pitches isn’t enough. There want any hand soap or toilet roll all weekend. The blocks also need attention as the male shower flooded.

Liked: Small site, well maintained in good location.

Disliked: A couple more loos and showers would be good for the size of the site.
I would like to have been able to choose the location of our pitch.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Absolutely loved it. The pitch spaces were a fantastic size, big enough for a car and campervan and also the picnic tables there in that space. The cafe on site was lovely. We could not fault any of it. We loved the quiet enough though it's on the main road that didn't bother us at all. We will definitely be back again. I have to mention the walks around to, just fantastic. Totally enjoyed our break away. Thank you so much definitely a 5* from us both 😊

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Local attractions

The surrounding Slad Valley is full of lovely places to take a walk, whether you’re looking for a short stroll through the woods or a longer ramble that leads you to a cosy pub for a well-earned pint. For even longer hikes, pick up the Cotswold Way near Painswick (10 minutes’ drive away) and follow it as far as you fancy. There are a couple of nice little art galleries to visit while you’re in Painswick, and it’s also home to the lovely Painswick Rococo Garden, designed in the 1740s and now the only remaining rococo garden in the country. Nearby Painswick Golf Club (10 minutes) is a scenic place for a round; if you’re after a more energetic activity, try Gloucester Ski & Snowboard Centre (15 minutes). Looking a little further afield, you could explore some of the area’s history at Woodchester Mansion (half an hour), walk among the trees at Westonbirt, the National Arboretum (35 minutes) or have days out in Gloucester or Cheltenham (both half an hour).
