Peak District views
Camping field, win hill view
Ladybower reservoir 7min away from campsite.
Tree-lined camping field

  • Simple pitches at a working farm in the central Peak District
  • Bamford Edge and Hathersage open-air pool five minutes' drive
  • Farm eggs for sale on site; two pubs within a mile's walk
You’ll be pretty much right in the centre of the Peak District National Park when you pitch up at Winhill View – this site is on a working farm on the edge of the Derwent river, just across the water from the village of Bamford. That makes this a particularly excellent location for walkers, who can get to the likes of the Thornhill Trail, Bamford Edge and Ladybower Reservoir with just a short drive (or by setting out on foot). Mam Tor, Castleton’s caves, Bakewell and Chatsworth are all within easy reach by car too, so you’ll have no shortage of ways to fill days around here. If you’re heading out hiking (or in fact, even if you’re not…) there’s surely no finer way to start the day than with some farm-fresh eggs, which you can buy on site to cook up for an excellent breakfast. Come evening time, you may like to get a barbecue going (there are three shops within a 10-minute drive for supplies) or head out to a local pub – there are a couple of excellent ones within a mile’s walk. Back at the farm, you’ll be staying on simple but well-kept pitches within a peaceful field surrounded by trees, with access to a washing-up area and toilet/shower facilities.

What customers say

A quiet, farm campsite with friendly hosts & stunning views, especially Bamford Edge. Basic but clean facilities, great for walkers/cyclists. Signage could be better; best for adults due to basic amenities.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Lovely site on a working farm with friendly owners. Small field for campers with single outside toilet (mini shed) , single shower and toilet room. There was also one sink with cold water for washing pots and sourcing water. Fresh eggs are sold on site and the surrounding area is beautiful. The site is maintained well and facilities are cleaned regularly. If you want the countryside this site is worth a visit!.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked We had a brilliant time at Winhill View, it’s a perfect location for exploring the Peak District. You can drive to Sheffield if you need supplies or a bit of city life or equally walk straight from your tent to see the outstanding countryside. Fantastic hosts and a fantastic site we would return!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Location was only 10 mins from peak cavern
Single shower was nice.

Disliked Part of the field that was left was very uneven, and under the electricity cables.
with no pitch markings some people spread themselves out, which meant the rest had to be very close.

The main road the campsite was off of was extremely busy for such a small road.

Liked Fantastic location, clean convenient campsite with friendly owners.
I will definitely stay there again.

Disliked It could have benefited from site/ pitch marking areas. As we arrived when people were not there and didn't know where was available. But it was all fine.
