Cows and sheep for neighbours, gorgeous walks from the pitches and the likes of Bakewell (home of delicious almond-flavoured tarts) and Chatsworth House within 20 minutes’ drive… who could turn down a Peak District National Park getaway at Brosterfield Farm Caravan Park? What a stunning and peaceful place it is, too: the camping meadow is surrounded by fields and operates as a quiet site, which means no loud noise or music allowed, please, as the owners want you to relax and get back to nature. Spotless facilities include modern showers, toilets, a pot-washing area and a chemical disposal point. In addition, there are a couple of electric-car charging points as well as recycling facilities in the corner of the camping field. Barbecues are allowed (bring your own from home), and you can stock up on bits for the grill at the supermarket in Bakewell. Your canine chums (up to two per pitch) are also welcome, and luckily, the local pub is dog-friendly (both inside and out) with an excellent restaurant, open fires and good ales. It’s only 10 minutes’ walk away in the pretty village of Foolow, which has a duck pond and is the start of many Peak District walks and mountain-biking trails.

Liked: Nice little site, it seems to have more pitches than there was last year (2024) or maybe it was just quieter than this year.
But still quiet and well sheltered.

Disliked: shower and toilet facilities. Only 2 toilets and showers in the men's block and 3 in the female block.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: Quiet and calm pitch with plenty of space for those with a booked space. My visit was early in the season, but places were limited when I booked so they keep the number of clients under control. Shower and toilets clean and very pleasant to use. Local pub only 10min walk away with good food.

Liked: Loved how peaceful this site was. And so close to local pub for dinner. Planned hikes around the site. Would definitely stay again. Only few toilets/ showers but this wasn’t a problem, kept very clean.

Disliked: Was on the pricey side for a pitch with No Electric. (Don’t agree when sites charge extra for dogs they don’t take up any extra space and don’t even use the facilities)
Don’t get me wrong would definitely stay on this site again , location is spot on !!!
Just wished sites didn’t charge for dogs

Primitive grass campsite

Liked: A very well maintained, large field with a nice conifer hedge as screening from the main road. It was extremely peaceful with very respectful other visitors.

The facilities were very pleasant and clean. Obvious that the owners have made that extra effort here.

Disliked: Only VERY minor things such as extra toilets would be useful (although the owners said they were installing more soon at the other end of the field), a little difficult to wash the dishes with the taps being very close to the edge of the sinks and I struggled to get hot water from the shower but that was maybe me pushing the wrong buttons! (I noticed lots of hot steam coming from a shower when I went to the loo so yeah, probably my mistake there)

EHU would be nice although I can manage fine without it when camping alone

Local attractions

Hikers can soon be out on the Monsal Trail (10 minutes’ drive), which offers spectacular views over Monsal Dale and the viaduct at Monsal Head. Kids will have fun crossing the stepping stones at Chee Dale (20 minutes), where you can all follow the River Wye through its limestone gorge. Alternatively, families may prefer to spend the day on cable-car rides at the Heights of Abraham (35 minutes), take vintage vehicle jaunts from Crich Tramway Village or enjoy dinosaur trails and adventure golf at Gulliver’s Kingdom (both 40 minutes). Peak District National Park culture vultures among you? As well as a farmyard where kids can meet the animals, stately Chatsworth House (20 minutes) is set in Capability Brown-designed parkland and has a fantastic art collection, while largely 12th-century Haddon Hall (25 minutes) is open for tours of its vaulted banqueting hall and formal Elizabethan gardens. The infamous ‘plague village’ of Eyam (five minutes’ drive) is packed with pretty stone cottages and cute tearooms, and there’s a craft centre at the Jacobean-era Eyam Hall. A former spa town, Buxton (25 minutes) has a lively cultural scene and an acclaimed opera house; book ahead for tickets.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 30 day(s) of arrival.
Modifications are subject to a £10.00 ($13.21) fee.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Please pick any available site on arrival.
The park will send you further check-in information 2 day(s) before your arrival.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leashes and supervised at all times.
The park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Breed-specific legislation (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
