Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Absolutely everything! Best campsite we’ve been to so far.. we loved it that much that we ended up staying for an extra night. Kathy was amazing, I could reach her through WhatsApp easily every time I had a question or enquiry. She came to clean the toilets & showers every single morning. The facilities are 5* for a small campsite. I would highly recommend it to anyone. I went with a 5 year old on my own & felt very safe the whole time. Lumsdale waterfalls are a half an hour drive away & the chee dale stepping stones are only 20 minutes away. Beautiful area.
Thank you so much for everything Kathy, we’re definitely coming back in the future.
Disliked Nothing at all, honestly everything was just perfect for what we needed!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked I really enjoyed my stay at Clover Meadow. The campsite is set in the beautiful hills of the Peak District, with stunning surroundings. Right next to the site was a pasture with two adorable ponies and a horse — perfect for animal and horse lovers like me.
The facilities were excellent, with two new showers and toilets that were clean and well stocked with hygiene products. The customer service was also outstanding — I received clear information by email and WhatsApp, and the owner always replied instantly to any questions.
Overall, I had a wonderful time at Clover Meadow and will definitely be returning!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Location is great, we had a day at Chatsworth, another day at Bakewell and a day in chesterfield.
Disliked It was very basic, which was ok for us but wouldn't have liked to have stayed more than the 3 days we were there. shower gels were empty and no loo rolls on one day, little things like that could have been better

Definitely will use again
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked This was a great campsite and was exactly as described. The location is great as it enabled us to access key trails within 30mins. I believed eve it was Kathy that we see every day making sure that the site was super tidy.

Well-maintained facilities, but the smell affected the experience
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked The shower and toilet facilities were kept clean and maintained regularly, which made our stay more comfortable.
Disliked There was a large manure heap just outside the fence that was regularly added to by nearby farmers. Even though we were pitched on the far side of the field, the smell carried over whenever the wind changed direction, which made it difficult to fully enjoy the stay.

Great new site & location, friendly staff, nice touches, hot showers.
1 bedroom bell tent
Liked Bell tent set-up was great, super beds and bedding, nice touch welcome with handmade treats, Kath super friendly and available whenever needed. Shower was probably best we’ve had anywhere camping - clean, hot. We really enjoyed the whole weekend!
Disliked It’s the great outdoors so take some midge repellant or citronella - they’re not around all the time but when they’re there they’re there! Toilets are a long drop so get ready to hold your nose!

Great stay for a days biking the trails and a wander around Bakewell.
1 bedroom bell tent
Liked Bell tent was fabulous, lovely touch of eye masks, ear plugs, little bears for the children and cakes on arrival! Showers were fantastic and warm. Owner was very friendly and accommodating.
Disliked The toilets but great for long drop toilets! No access to drinking water.

Lovely campsite, very well maintained.
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Friendly owner and clean site
Disliked Drinking water not readily available, although Kathy said she would bring some for us.

The site has the potential to be AMAZING with a few simple changes.
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked The quirky showers; hot and great pressure - although they won't last long due to the wooden board (it needs some plastic or something to protect it)
The location.
Great interaction with the owner.
The size of the pitch is great and the field is level for perfect pitching.
The padlocked entrance is good.
Clean facilities.
Disliked Please don't view the following as huge criticisms of your site, because they are not intended for that purpose. This site has great potential. We know the site is undergoing planning permission, the points below are really easy fixes... we wish you well in the future of Clover Meadow Campsite.
The grass is ridiculously long (when driving across the field the caution light and beeper was activated in the car to tell us we were in danger of a collision!) - this is also a breeding ground for midges (of which there were loads!) - If the owners mowed some drive tracks for customers and pitches this would make the experience so much better.
No washing up area (even though this is listed as an amenity on pitchup) - a simple fix would be to install a couple of stainless steel sinks and a plastic roof the same as the shower blocks to link the toilets and showers with hot water (hooked up the same as the showers) and some quality warm white solar lights would really improve that area.
Nowhere to wash your hands after using the toilets - the sink attached to the shower blocks only has cold water and needs warm water instead to be a hand wash area (owners provide hand sanitiser)
The charge for dogs seems a bit excessive, no amenities for dogs provided e.g. doggy shower or separate dog/exercise area.
Could not find the freezer area for the freezing ice packs either (as stated on pitchup)
The farmer on the adjacent field turned over the compost and soil right next to the camping field which added to the number of midges being hatched. Nothing that the campsite could do about this, but worth noting for anyone going to the campsite to not pitch near the two dry stone walls which is where the farmer stores his compost and manure.
