  • Simple site in the middle of the Peak District National Park
  • A 15-minute drive from Bakewell, Castleton and Blue John Cavern
  • Scenic dog-friendly site with village pub five minutes' walk
When it comes to stays in the Peak District National Park, sometimes all you need is a simple and peaceful place to lay your head for the night, with basic facilities but very little to distract you from the gorgeous views all around. (Oh, and maybe a pub within walking distance…) If that's the sort of thing you seek, you’ll likely be most happy with your lot at South View Farm Camping. This is wild-ish camping (in that it’s got a toilet block and running water), spread over roughly four acres and on a very slight incline. As well as having fabulous views over to Bradwell Edge, there’s a gliding club close by, so you may spot some folk taking to the air. As befits a wild-style site, there's a laidback atmosphere in which you'll be allowed to bring a barbecue or light up a campfire, and dogs are welcome as long as they're kept under control and on a lead. There's a sink on site for topping up your drinking water, as well as washing-up sinks and rubbish bins. And that pub? It’s a mere five-minute walk along a footpath to the village of Little Hucklow and a pint of something local in the garden or by the fire (and a meal too, if you like). For more eating options, the local villages of Bradwell and Tideswell are about five minutes' drive away and have pubs, shops and takeaways. Working up an appetite for your dinner should be straightforward here, as you’ll be pretty much right in the centre of the national park with easy access to all the top hikes, activities and attractions.

Amazing views, peaceful setting, spacious spots, and a welcoming host. Clean facilities, especially restrooms, are a highlight. Guests love the simple charm, handy pub, and honesty box. Some minor wind and pitch slopes noted, but overall highly recommended with return visits planned.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely spacious field - beautiful setting in the peaks with hilly views and mam tor in the distance. Would absolutely return, this is a real gem.
Very clean toilet block well stocked with toilet roll, hand soap and mirrors.
Pot washing area near the toilets with two sinks (cold water only) included washing up liquid and soap.
The honesty box was a great touch, stocked with snacks and drinks which the kids loved.
Fire pit available for hire (wood included in price), there were a couple of picnic benches also dotted about which people would lift over to their tent (not sure if a charge for this or not - looked to be free). Lovely vibe on the campsite, friendly owners checked in on us just after arrival and before leaving. Ice cream van called on site both nights around 8pm. Plenty of space in the middle of the field to kick a ball around.
Local pub the Blind Bull just over the stile and down the field was a 5 min walk and really nice.
Bradwell village a 5 min drive away had 3 pubs and a great playground for the kids.

Disliked Nothing!

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Beautiful views, and well run campsite. Had a lovely relaxing few days. Good toilets and pot washing facilities.

Disliked We of course knew going when booking that there were no showers, but with the quality of the other facilities I feel they would continually benefit from the addition of showers.
