  • Peak District touring pitches at a farm in the village of Wetton
  • Walk from site to Thor's Cave; Alton Towers 20 minutes' drive
  • A short walk from the village pub and tea room, plus walking trails
If the key components of your break in the Peak District National Park are a) easy access to walks, and b) easy access to a good post-walk pint, then you’ll probably be most pleased with the location of Yew Tree Farm Touring. This Derbyshire touring site is on the edge of the village of Wetton, opposite the village car park, which functions as the start point for several walking routes. That means that once you’ve parked your van, you can simply set out on foot to get to Thor’s Cave, meander along the Manifold Way or find various other ways to soak up some of the scenery. If you don’t mind a little bit of a drive, the likes of Dovedale and the Heights of Abraham can be on the schedule too. Wherever you end up (even if it’s Alton Towers, which is also nearby), you’ll be able to finish the day with a well-earned drink at the local pub, which is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the site. The village also has a tea room that’s open at weekends if a piece of cake and a cuppa is more your style. The site opens up its on-site refreshment trailer during summer weekends (from 10am to 5pm) to sell locally sourced Jersey ice cream, drinks and hot drinks. For dinner, you may want to bring along a barbecue and load it up with supplies from shops in Ashbourne (20 minutes’ drive) instead. Touring pitches are set up in a five-acre field, so there’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out and have a bit of peace. Chemical toilet disposal is available on site, and although there are no toilets on site, there are public loos in the car park next door.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Great field and nice views, close walks nearby and nice places not far to drive.

Nice owner who did a run round and checked in.

Clean and tidy.

Exactly as described. Very basic but that is what we wanted and was as listed.

Portaloo on site which was a bonus.

Disliked: Nothing

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Lovely little place, easy booking, very clean. In a nice village with close cafes and public toilets at the end of the field. When we stayed it was quiet and calm. Local to Thors cave. The owner was lovely also. Will definitely be coming back. It was also a great price.

Disliked: We didn’t have any dislikes with the campsite. The only thing I would state is we didn’t have much signal so anyone staying I would recommend downloading any maps beforehand.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Quite, clean, amazing views, close to some very nice walking routes and amazing scenery.

Disliked: Satnav automatically takes you to the wrong farm 10-12 miles away. Site location could do with an update to say something along the lines of…. Set satnav to wetton car park site is opposite this location.

Couldnt call the numbers provided, could be due to poor signal in the area but couldnt get through all weekend.

From the manager: Hi Simon,
Apologies for the issue in getting hold of us, most telephone networks are ok around here, so I am unsure as to why. In response to your recommendations, I will make some edits to the listing.
Many thanks for your feedback!
