  • Small touring site for CAMC members only at a Derbyshire village pub
  • Ashbourne and Alton Towers both 15 minutes' drive away
  • Meals and wide range of drinks available in the friendly pub
Parking up by the pub is a fine idea for several reasons – the most important of those being that you’ll be able to have a few drinks of an evening without any worries about having to drive anywhere. That’s the particularly enticing attraction for Roston Inn Certificated Location, a Caravan and Motorhome Club members-only site is in the grounds of a friendly Derbyshire pub which is open from 5pm on weekdays and from 12pm on weekends. Once you arrive, you’re likely to want to settle in for a while, either cosying up by the log burner or soaking up the fresh air from one of the outdoor tables. There’s a good range of cask ales, wines and other drinks to choose from, and a tempting food menu of pub classics, grills and kids’ dishes. Working up an appetite for all this should be pretty easy, as there are heaps of excellent days out nearby, from hikes in the Peak District National Park and watersports at Carsington Water to action-packed days at Alton Towers. Back at the pub, you’ll be staying at a small site where the grass touring pitches have hardstanding underneath for sturdiness, electric hookups are included and there are lovely views out over the surrounding countryside. Guests are welcome to pitch up, enjoy the view and then say hello to the owners in the pub when it opens. Toilets and washing facilities are accessible 24 hours per day, and there's a chemical disposal point for guest use as well. Ashbourne and Uttoxeter (both 15 minutes' drive) are your best bets for things like supermarkets, although you should certainly stop in at the Denstone Hall Farm Shop (five minutes) for local treats.

Liked: The pub was lovely. Fantastic food, friendly local punters and the lady running it all was down to earth, knowledgeable of the local area and really friendly. She was accommodating for our yappy dog.
The pitch was big, clean and level.

Disliked: The field was small for maneuvering the caravan, however once in place there was plenty of room.

Liked: Lovely quiet spot, except for the odd farming vehicle but very few. It's a simple field but that's all you need. Lovely little pub, friendly mom and daughter run this and friendly locals. Great food, large portions. Basic toilet and shower, clean and perfect for a weekend stay. WIFI okay but we had a booster, but you go to quiet places to get away from the constraints of mobiles.
Would definitely go again.

Disliked: Nothing
