  • Family-friendly glamping on the edge of a fruit farm and woodland
  • A 10-minute drive to Go Ape and half an hour to Windsor Castle
  • Wildlife in the woods and farm animals to meet on site
Scouting for a friendly wildlife haven? Good job you’ve stumbled upon Strawberry Fields Glamping, a peaceful glamping field on a working fruit farm which backs onto the private seven-acre Gorrick Wood. Creatures like deer and kites hide out in the woods and the farm has its own set of playful animals. With barbecue facilities, farm produce up for grabs and plenty of exploring to be done in the woods, this is a peaceful retreat indeed. Keen photographers are likely to enjoy leisurely walks in the woods (you might get lucky and spot deer, squirrels and rabbits). And there's plenty for foodies too, as there are barbecue facilities on site and a horsebox café where you can settle in for afternoon tea (book ahead for this) or pick up coffee and cake. Dogs are welcome here too, and there are boarding kennels on site if you'd like a dog-free day for an outing: to Go Ape Bracknell (10 minutes’ drive) or Reading (25 minutes), perhaps? The farm’s free-range chickens lay eggs, which are sold on the farm. The chicken are often found foraging in the fruit tunnels, but they always make their way home just in time for tea. They’re not the only residents – Chance and Dude are the names of the rescue pony and donkey (they’re fond of visitors who have a carrot in hand), and there are pygmy goats often to be seen leaping about their play paddock. You’re very welcome to come and chill out for a few days or longer. The friendly staff will get you settled right in with a welcome pack and information on the surrounding area. The site’s facilities include a converted horsebox shower and toilet block and parking spaces.

Liked: We have just returned from Strawberry Fields Glamping- we stayed here with our 11 year old while our other daughter age 16 was at Reading Festival. The couple who run the site are lovely our 11 year old loves animals and Nikki let her feed the animals - horse named Chance and donkey named Dude, the goats 4 cats and chickens - she was so lovely letting my daughter get involved and telling us all about the animals. The glamping tents are very comfortable beds are soft and we slept well. Lovely pubs close by and the strawberry’s are delicious / Everything you need is there - really lovely stay Thankyou 👍 x

Liked: Well... everything!

Great location. Wonderful facilities. Our host was lovely. We absolutely did not pick fresh strawberries from the farm and wash them thoroughly.

I can't recommend this place enough as a way to get away from it all and enjoy some gentle ruralisation!

Disliked: Tents can get a bit cold overnight but there are loads of blankets and the electricity is away from the campsite (which is actually a good thing).

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Patrick, It was a pleasure to host you and i am so glad you enjoyed your stay! You are right as we try to make it a relaxing and the electricity being away from the campsite means you can put down the phones and iPads and enjoy the surroundings and each others company! The only batteries that need charging are our guests :-) Nikki

Liked: We stayed as a football team and loved it! From booking to leaving, Nikki was always helpful and responsive to my many queries. They were flexible with requests, took the time to show us all the facilities etc when we arrived and contacted us regularly during our stay to make sure everything was ok.

The site is well set up with loads of space for our footballers to have a game, and there are family games next to the kitchen area for the rainy times.

And free strawberries…what’s not to like?!

Disliked: Getting to a fridge and electric socket to charge phones etc is bit of a trek (5-10 minute walk) but you know that before you arrive.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Chris and group, I am glad that you enjoyed your stay. Yes the site is an off grid site but we do have a converted kitchen with small fridge and electricity for use which is a short 5 minute walk. I guess It also allows you to see the pygmy goats, chickens, donkey and horse! Nikki

Liked: The tents were lovely and cosy with the path running up to the front and solar lights. There were lovely kitchen facilities and the children loved the hammock. Friendly host. 5 tents available so it was very peaceful.

Disliked: Would be great if there was a fire pit area nearer the bbq area for communal marshmallow toasting! The cupboard of toys and games was a great idea but could be updated as it would be great to have had some bats etc that weren’t broken.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for the review and apologies about the broken bats. Sometimes they get broken and are put back broken and we don't realise. The fire pits are next to the tents, so each family can enjoy a camp fire. Nikki

Local attractions

Get a little taste of royalty… Windsor Castle (half an hour’s drive) has had 39 monarch residents and you can learn all about them while taking a tour and see the Changing of the Guard. There are ancient forest trails around Windsor Great Park to make it an active outing. Looking for family-friendly thrills? LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort (25 minutes) has Lego-themed rides such as a driving school and dragon ride. There are bigger rides for the more daring folk at THORPE PARK Resort (40 minutes). If you’d like a side of education with that, The Look Out Discovery Centre (10 minutes) has hands-on exhibits for kids. Waterslides – and a spa for the adults – are the speciality at Coral Reef Bracknell's Waterworld (10 minutes) instead. Of course, Reading (25 minutes) also has plenty of activities, whether it’s shopping, eating out on the riverside or checking out the Bayeux Tapestry replica in Reading Museum.
