There's no twist to a stay at the green, serene and scenic site of Camping d'n Twist in North Brabant – just a friendly family vibe, a welcoming owner and a setting in a land of hiking and biking. Run by an amiable and helpful team, d'n Twist is on a former farm that's now set firmly up for families: among the many touches to keep the kids happy are a playground and a sandpit, a trampoline, a summer paddling pool and kids' bikes. Animal fans can also visit the nearby ZooParc Overloon. Around the region, Camping d'n Twist's South Netherlands setting is in the middle of a forested area and right at a junction of trails for hiking, cycling and horse riding, five kilometres from Overloon and its zoo. North Brabant has dozens of hiking trails to set forth upon for a day's striding; if the kids' legs are too little for that, take them to seek thrills at Toverland amusement park, 25 minutes away by car. Or ask the team for suggestions: the site works with local businesses to help guests book a variety of activities for all ages – or to arrange barbecue or gourmet eats for when you arrive back at base. Treasure hunts, games, pétanque and archery are also on site, along with family-friendly amenities including toilets and showers, a washing-up area and free wifi to entertain the teens. If you're not eating on site, a steakhouse is about 10 minutes' walk away along the pretty forest path.

Liked: The pitches are fantastic here, with mature tall hedgerows to 3 sides. So you get a little privacy and shade from the sun. Our pitch also had a dedicated water supply with electric.
Showers and toilets were brilliant, clean, modern and free.
Great facilities, stunning quiet location.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Wide open space large pitches lovely countryside and walking distance (if your a walker) to Overloon and it’s fantastic WW2 museum. It’s the oldest and I would say the best WW2 museum in Europe including U.K. and I have been to many. I live a mile from Shuttleworth one the best in U.K.

Disliked: Although we enjoyed the company of children playing on trampoline it would be nice if it was screened off with 2 metre hedge. I did prevent us from having an afternoon snooze! (Pitch 24)

Liked: Friendly welcome, big pitches with electric and water on pitch. Very dog friendly with lots to do in the area. Clean facilities and honesty box for ice cream and beer!

Local attractions

Camping d'n Twist is a short drive from ZooParc Overloon, where the animal-mad can greet yet more species after the critters on site. There are cheetahs, tigers, lions and more to see, as well as expedition routes for intrepid travellers through the Amazon, outback and forest. Overloon is also home to the Overloon War Museum, commemorating the biggest tank battle ever on Dutch soil, the Battle of Overloon in 1944 (which led to the Alies liberating nearby Venray). Tanks and other military vehicles are set around the 14 hectares of woodland where the battle took place; guided tours are available if you don't want to wander free range. Arty types can browse the arty exhibits at Odapark Venray (15 minutes' drive), a national and international contemporary art centre with a spectacular sculpture forest.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.

Safety

Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.

General

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.

Vehicles

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

General

Quiet hours must be respected between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and boots must be closed quietly.

Reception

Reception is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. between 01/04 - 30/06 and 01/09 - 30/09.
Reception is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. between 01/07 and 31/08.

Dogs
