Imagine stepping outside your tent or motorhome in the morning to be greeted by the glorious silhouette of Mount Vesuvius in the distance. Well, the good news is that at Agricamper La Giuliana you won’t have to exert your imagination, because that’s exactly what awaits. And the views of the volcano aren’t even the best thing about this peaceful site with grassy pitches shaded by palm trees. No, the main draw here is the enviable location – on the outskirts of the modern town of Pompei and about 2.5 kilometres from Pompeii Archaeological Park (10 minutes’ drive to both). The owners will be happy to pick you up from Pompei train station; however, if you decide to go to the site on foot, it’s a straightforward half-hour walk along Via Nolana, where you can stock up on freshly baked bread and produce from independent stores, or do a big shop at one of several supermarkets. If your backpack is already plenty heavy and you don’t fancy adding to it, don’t worry – you can always get the essentials (wine and limoncello, for example – they’re essentials, right?) at the on-site store, which also sells regional specialities. There is a barbecue area with picnic tables at the site, which also comes with a toilet block and showers, a washing-up area and a drying room.

Liked Kleiner aber sehr sauberer Campingplatz. Sehr ursprünglich, für uns aber völlig in Ordnung.
Giuliana und ihr Mann sind sehr freundlich , haben uns bei dem zurückgegeben aus der Stadt mit ihrem privaten Auto mitgenommen. Wurden sehr gut über unsere geplanten Aktivitäten aufgeklärt. Alle Plätze sind von Palmen umgeben und man hat einen schönen Blick auf den Vesuv.

Disliked Der Strom hat nur 3 Amp, ist aber in Italien oft so.

Disliked This was a little far out for us it is a 45 minute walk to the main gate for Pompeii which our kids did not enjoy.
We had a problem with ants they seemed to be everywhere.

Liked Es ist ein sehr schöner kleiner familiärer Platz. Er zeichnet sich für seine Sauberkeit aus. Wer kein Meer, Pool oder Animationen braucht, ist hier richtig zum Entspannen oder sich Pompeji, und den Vesuv zu erobern.

In house taxi service to train station and pick up for €10.
Site was level.
Walking distance to Pompeii ruins and new town.

Disliked Having the washing machine unplugged while being used, by the owners son, because we hadn’t told him we wanted to use it. Not aware this was necessary.
Then when it was agreed we could use it, we were told which spin speed to use. At 400 we had to hand wring the clothes before hanging, as a result they did not dry overnight even in the warmer weather.
Bring charged €5 for the use of a domestic washing machine when other parks charge the same for domestic size machines.
No hot water for washing dishes.
6amps EHU is not enough to boil a kettle.

Nous avons passé un excellent moment au Camper La Giuliana à Pompéi. L’accueil a été vraiment chaleureux et attentionné, tout était propre et bien organisé. L’emplacement est idéal et on se sent tout de suite à l’aise. Je recommande à 100 %, nous reviendrons avec plaisir !

Liked We have just stayed here for 3 nights with my husband & two older children, on arrival the owner greeted us & welcomed us all in showed us around & gave us a limoncello, the couple who own the site are very friendly & helpful. They make wine onside which you can buy for 5 euros & its so nice! The site is spotlessly clean the lady is constantly cleaning showers & toilets. The showers are hot & 24 hours a day. The site is about 20 mins walk into new Pompeii & you can easily access trains to Sorrento, Naples. Old Pompeii is in the centre about 35 mins walk, buy tickets at gate its cheaper & children are free. We would definitely go back to visit the friendly atmosphere made it! You can use bbqs onsite too which is good. We would highly recommend!!!

Disliked We had ants in the van which we bought ant spray for & this fixed the problem this wasn't the site's fault its just because its hot I suppose!

Vesuvius looks like a benign presence on the horizon now, but when it erupted in 79 AD, it spewed lava and hot ashes, destroying the ancient town of Pompeii. A walk along the cobbled streets of Pompeii Archaeological Park takes you past the ruins of elegant villas, sanctuaries, baths and theatres, many of them covered in spectacular frescoes and mosaics. The seafront promenade at Castellammare di Stabia (25 minutes’ drive), at the southern end of the Gulf of Naples, is a popular spot for a stroll. From the centre of town, catch the funicular to the top of Mount Faito for incomparable views of the coastline and Vesuvius, and woodland trails. A day in Naples (35 minutes) should include the Sansevero Chapel, which houses the remarkable ‘Veiled Christ’ sculpture; the impressive Piazza del Plebiscito square, flanked on one side by the Royal Palace and on the other by the sweeping arcade of the Basilica Reale Pontificia San Francesco da Paola; and pizza at L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele – be prepared to queue for your margherita, though.
