- Quiet and leafy site 15 minutes’ drive from Tignes in the Savoie Alps
- Hiking and cycling from the site; paragliding 15 minutes’ drive
- Bread delivery and small shop at reception; dogs welcome
Tignes is well known as a winter-sports destination, but this part of the Savoie Alps is just as spectacular in summer – as you’ll find out for yourself when you stay at Camping de Tignes.
Surrounded by the dramatic peaks of the Vanoise Massif, this peaceful, dog-friendly site sits among larch and pine forest at an altitude of about 2,000 metres, around 15 minutes’ drive from Tignes. It’s a fantastic spot for all sorts of outdoor activities – after the snow has melted, visitors have access to mountain biking and hiking trails, rock-climbing, paragliding, canyoning along the Isère River and a bike park. Most of these options are only around 15 minutes’ drive away.
A host of facilities are provided on site so you can get on with the serious business of enjoying yourselves in the fresh mountain air: if you haven’t exhausted yourself during the day, you can mingle with fellow guests over games of pétanque or challenge the kids to a game of table tennis.
There’s tourist info and a basics shop at reception, as well as a bread-delivery service. If you do need to top up on food supplies, there are supermarkets down in Tignes, along with a myriad of bars, cafés and restaurants for easy meals and drinks.

Local attractions
The gorgeous mountain views on site are bound to make you keen to get out and about to see more – perhaps start by asking for hiking maps at reception to find a walking trail that suits your style. The team here can also help hook you up with paragliding, canyoning and cani-rando (running with dogs) outings (all within 20 minutes’ drive) if you’ve got more of a spirit of adventure.
A couple of popular destinations nearby are Tignes Lake and Tignes Dam (both 15 minutes’ drive). The former has walking trails, fishing and watersports (paddleboarding and canoeing included) as well as a lake beach area; at the latter, look out for the Lady of the Lake sculpture, a tribute to the former village that was drowned to create the dam.
Still got a thirst for more activity? How about some downhill trails (for various abilities, and with bike lifts available) at Tignes Bike Park, crazy slides at Acroland de Tignes or some time at the indoor of Le Lagon Tignes (which also has a sauna and hot tub for those starting to ache a bit…)? All are 15 minutes’ drive away.
