- Family-friendly site in the countryside with views over the coast
- A five-minute drive to Douarnenez and the coast; 35 minutes to Quimper
- Heated waterpark, sandy play area, trampoline and inflatable games
Whether you want to wind down with views out over Brittany’s coastline or get wet at a mini waterpark, Camping de Trézulien is a top shout. This park in France’s Finistère has heated aquatic amenities including a Jacuzzi, slides and paddling pool (open in the summer months) and is a five-minute drive to Douarnenez town’s pretty marina and shops.
As you might already have guessed from that aforementioned waterpark and from glancing at the pics, this five-acre site is well-equipped for kids: as well as the pool, they have a sandy play area, a trampoline, a ping pong table and inflatable games to keep them occupied.
Fun stuff to do for both the smaller and older members of your travel squad are also all around the local area, with watersports and scuba diving at the coast plus tennis, horseback riding and walks in the Névet woods (20 minutes’ drive) inland. For long-distance treks, the GR 34 trail is accessible from within five minutes’ drive of the park and runs along the Atlantic Coast from Camaret-Sur-Mer to Audierne past cliffs, headlands and sandy beaches.
Speaking of beaches, the white sands of Plage des Sables Blancs are five minutes from the site by car, while the wider stretch of Plage de Kervel (where you can have a go at some watersports) takes 20 minutes to reach. Alternatively, the windswept coast around the rocky Pointe du Raz promontory – often called Land’s End as it extends so far eastwards into the sea – is a 40 minutes’ drive.

Local attractions
For other seaside jaunts from Douarnenez, sail off to the protected Tristan Island offshore (accessible on foot at low tide) or wander around the town’s three old ports while looking out for the traditional sailing boats that bob up and down on the water.
Sentier des Plomarc'h (15 minutes’ drive) near the eastern coast of Douarnenez is also worth a stop for the Gallo-Roman archaeological site, while Locronan is a pretty typically Breton village 25 minutes’ drive out of town.
Inland, the city of Quimper (35 minutes’ drive) has activities like the 25-metre Aquarive pool, zipwiring and a waterpark with a log flume; in another direction, Animal Park Pommeraie – where families can wander through the wooded grounds while having a look at farmyard creatures – is 45 minutes away.
If you’re craving adult activities, the 18-hole Golf de Cornouaille course in La Forêt-Fouesnant is a 50-minute drive.
